Description: In LibreOffice Writer I click "Help -> Send Feedback" and I get a popup box with the message: "/home/guest/https:/hub.libreoffice.org/send-feedback/?LOversion=6.1.5.2&LOlocale=en-US&LOmodule=TextDocument: No such file or directory" I tried this with : - LO Version: 6.1.5.2 / Linux (Debian 10) - LO Version: 6.4.2.2 / Linux (Debian 10) - LO version: 6.3.5.2 (x64) / Windows 10 I had different results. Hoping to make things crystal clear for others, I'll add a post per Operating System / LibreOffice version. (This means three extra posts.) I hope that for developers this may be easy to fix. Basic users however, get an error message on the screen, which they think may be severe. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Click: Help -> Send Feedback Actual Results: I get a popup box with the message: "/home/guest/https:/hub.libreoffice.org/send-feedback/?LOversion=6.1.5.2&LOlocale=en-US&LOmodule=TextDocument: No such file or directory" Expected Results: My browser should have started and go to the appropriate page online. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Maybe the part "/home/guest/" at the start of these URLs needs to be removed? For an advanced user this shouldn't be a real problem. The user can copy and paste the right ULR in the address bar of a browser. For a "basic" user however this may be a problem. They may not know how to copy and past the URL to a browser. They may also think that something severe happened. Imagine that a basic user was looking for help to solve a problem, then the basic user now may think he has two problems. If the user is an employee in a company, then suddenly he or she can't finish the task he or she was supposed to finish that day. Having seen a few basic users, I hope we can avoid that they think that this is a bug, and especially that they would loose confidence in LibreOffice.

Not reproducible for me under Ubuntu 18.04 x86-64 with Firefox as default web browser. Tested with LO 6.0.7 provided by Ubuntu, 6.3.5.0+, 6.4.4.0+ and current master each built at home. 1/ Is your Debian installed on your PC or is it a live version? 2/ what is your web browser? 3/ Is there something special in the way you access to Internet? Status set to NEEDINFO, please set it back to UNCONFIRMED once requested information is provided. Best regards. JBF
I'll start with the questions you asked: 1) I installed Debian 10.3.0 on a separate partition. It's not a live version. For the Debian graphical interface I choose LXDE Windows 10 is installed on a separate partition. 2) My default web browser in Debian is Firefox 68.7.0 esr-1~deb10u1 (64-bit). This is the version that came with the Debian installation. 3) I connect to the Internet in a normal way. Firefox, Thunderbird, TeamViewer, etc., all work as expected. (It's good that you asked.) You use Ubuntu, and if I'm correct it has a different graphical interface. This made me curious. When installing Debian I had chosen to instal most of the graphical interfaces and I decided to try all off them. The result: Only with the LXDE graphical interface I get the error: "No such file or directory". With none of the other graphical interfaces I get this error. (I added screen copies of all the interfaces that I tried.) With the LXDE graphical interface I don't get that error message all the time. I ran Debian with the LXDE interface, and started LibreOffice writer. - Then I select Help -> LibreOffice Help and Firefox opens nicely and goes to the requested file. That however, is a local file like: "file://usr/share/libreoffice/ ... etc." - If I select any of the other options under Help -> etc. a popup box appears with the message "No such file or directory". I had expected Firefox to open and go to something like: "https://hub.libreoffice.org/forum/?LOlocale=en-US" but there's an attempt to open local file: "/home/guest/https://hub.libreoffice.org/forum/?LOlocale=en-US" (For more details, please refer to "LXDE-Help-GetHelpOnline.jpg") This popup box opens really fast. If Firefox opens, there's always a short delay because Firefox first needs to be started. When the popup box opens, there's no delay at all, it comes instantly. In the taskbar in the bottom of the screen there's no item for Firefox either. Is it possible that this popup box is generated by LibreOffice? I assume that you first want a confirmation that something's not working correctly. Am I right that we need someone who's able to check this with Linux Debian while using the LXDE interface? Most of all, thank you for taking a look at this. Best, Bart. PS: I added screen copies of the graphical interfaces that I tried. The most important one is LXDE, so that's the first one. I added these screen copies for those who aren't familiar with these interfaces. Feel free to ignore these screen copies if you're already familiar with them. Am I right that one of these graphical interfaces is what you get when running Ubuntu? The Plasma graphical interface does one thing different: instead of starting Firefox, it starts Konqueror, but I don't find that a big difference. I hope that this post isn't too long. Most of all I'm trying to add useful information.

Flawlessly working. Tested on Lubuntu 19.10 and 18.10 both with LXDE and LXQt. The problem Bart is encountering seems to be a problem due to the way his desktop is registering links (cf. freedesktop specification with his browser). As the issue doesn't come from LibreOffice, I propose to close this bug and stop here. It's in the responsibility of distro maintainer to take care of this.

I changed the status to Resolved / NotOurBug.
I just installed the latest LibreOfficeDev version and I checked this "bug" again. The results are different (= better). I'm adding the information below just in case it would be useful for someone else later. LINUX / Debian Version 10, with LXDE interface) LO Version: 7.0.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: 4d03bd252274308f64332e7c0523068c38ac684a CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.19; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3; TinderBox: Linux-rpm_deb-x86_64@86-TDF, Branch:master, Time: 2020-04-26_05:59:56 Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US Calc: threaded These steps still give the error popup : - Help -> Get Help Online - Help -> Send Feedback - Help -> Get Involved - Help -> Donate to LibreOffice These steps now work as expected : - Help -> About LibreOffice -> Credits - Help -> About LibreOffice -> Website - Help -> About LibreOffice -> Release Notes Makes me happy. :-)
Please keep in mind LXDE (GTK2) is not really supported any more. People are advised to switch to LXQt instead. LibreOffice has removed its GTK2 VCL rendering. And GTK3 in a GTK2 env sometimes creates interaction issues. That's may be the reason of your issue. ;) Someone at Debian may have found the problem you encountered and fixed it ;)
As we do not know which commit fixed the problem, the correct status is WorksForMe. Best regards. JBF
