Description Victor Mux 2020-04-13 00:30:51 UTC
Description:
In Writer, when typing Control-F2 the Fields window opens. If you used the DocInformation tab once Writer remembers and opens to the DocInformation tab. The issue is that the Type options don't have the initial focus to use the keyboard to navigate the options. You have to click in the Type options 1st to give it focus. It would be great is the Type options had focus so you can quickly navigate the options without clicking the Type options 1st.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Control-F2
2. Click DocInformation
3. use the keyboard

Actual Results:
Keyboard input is not processed because the Type option doesn't have focus.

Expected Results:
Keyboard input is accepted immediately to scroll through the options.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
If this bug is fixed it will make keyboard input faster than using the mouse for working with fields. It's important. Thank you.

If I well understood, there should be some option to allow/disallow "Remember last tab opened" in Fields dialog?

Xisco/Heiko: since it concerns UI, thought you might be interested in this one.

Initial focus on the Type list (not just for DocInformation) to make alt+T (~Type) not needed... Makes it hard to change the field type (eg Variables instead of DocInfo). I would rather keep the focus on the tab list. =>WF

I'm not sure to understand, what does "WF" means?
Should we put Type options tab by default with focus on it?

> I'm not sure to understand, what does "WF" means?

WF = WONTFIX. Focus on the tabs is more convenient.
Comment 5 Victor Mux 2020-04-14 18:48:37 UTC
If you hit Control-A, you can use the left and right keyboard arrow to scroll the tabs but you can't use down arrow to make a selection. You have to click on an option to give it focus and then you can use the keyboard again. This issue really slows a person down when working with fields.

You just have to press the tab-key and focus is on type. So you don't have to click.
