Created attachment 159833 [details] writer document with text box Contents of a text box disappeared and cannot be rescued. Last working release is 6.3.1.2. None of my existing documents display contents of the textbox in later releases. Please check with file attached.
Thank you for reporting the bug. Could you please attach a screenshot of the textbox within the document, using the last working release of LibreOffice, to the bug report? This will help us in triaging the bug. (I'm also also marking this bug as a possible regression.)

It looks like a table, but I can insert a table to a textbox.
Quote [Dieter]:"It looks like a table, but I can insert a table to a textbox." You meant probably "[...] I cannot insert a table to a textbox." The document is converted from a Microsoft-Word document where it is possible to insert a table into a text box.

Created attachment 159891 [details] original document from where odt is converted
Thanks. Results from further testing: Content remains, if I open docx with LO 6.3 (Do you get the same result?) Conten also remains, if I open docx with LO 6.1, save it as odt and reopen it in LO 6.3 So perhaps there has been an old bug in LO with saving such docx-files, but as far as I can see, this i not actual. So I would now cose the bug as WORKSFORME Waldemar, if you disagree, please add some steps, that reproduces the bug (please start with opening docx-file) => NEEDINFO
Created attachment 159897 [details] LO crash
(In reply to Waldemar Schrat from comment #8) > Created attachment 159897 [details] > LO crash LO 6.3 crashes, if you try to open docx-file?
I confirm that I can open the .docx with all available LO versions with existing contents (up to 6.3.4.2). I confirm opening .docx with LO 6.1.6.3, saving as .odt, opening with LO 6.3.4.2 with existing content. I can reproduce a crash of LO. Steps 1. open .docx with LO V6.3.1.2 2. save as .odt 3. open same document as .odt 4. confirm question "The template 'document (Deutsch)' on which this document is based, has been modified. Do you want to update style based formatting according to the modified template?" with one or the other 5. close document 6. save or discard changes 7. LO crashes What is not working: Making the disappeard content of the .odt document visible again.
I forgot between 2. and 3.: 2.5. close document
(In reply to Waldemar Schrat from comment #10) > I confirm that I can open the .docx with all available LO versions with > existing contents (up to 6.3.4.2). > I confirm opening .docx with LO 6.1.6.3, saving as .odt, opening with LO > 6.3.4.2 with existing content. So I think, it's not an actual problem, but a problem with an older version of LO (Perhaps before 6.1). So I would say WONTFIX, be I leave status UNCONFIRMED for further input. > > I can reproduce a crash of LO. > Steps > 1. open .docx with LO V6.3.1.2 > 2. save as .odt > 3. open same document as .odt > 4. confirm question "The template 'document (Deutsch)' on which this > document is based, has been modified. Do you want to update style based > formatting according to the modified template?" with one or the other > 5. close document > 6. save or discard changes > 7. LO crashes That's another problem. Perhaps there is also a bug report or you can open a new report (you should update LO before)
Same crash with LO 6.3.4.2. Had the same crash with all LO versions.
(In reply to Waldemar Schrat from comment #13) > Same crash with LO 6.3.4.2. > Had the same crash with all LO versions. Thankfs for testing. Please discuss this topic in a new bug, because otherwise we mix different topics in one bug, which is not helpul. Thanks.
Yeah, let's close
