I can only see one word in the sample: potentiel.
Is this the correct sample?

Please check
 Tools/Options/LibreOffice Writer/Formatting Aids: display> [X] Hidden characters

I confirm it with

Version: 7.0.0.0.alpha0+ (x64)
Build ID: b8fb7ecd9cdbe1898c41eaecd9894df8e8f01e25
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 18363; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win;
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI-Language: en-GB
Calc: threaded

Regarding to LO Help[1] Clear Direct formatting should remove Character Styles. 'Entre has character style "Comment Char" so I would expect, that Clear Direct Formatting would change this.

So I would consider this as a bug (=> NEW) but to be sure, I add Design-Team (perhaps wrong information in LO Help)

And since "Entre" has no direct formatting nothing happens. Clear direct formatting does not apply to character style. => NAB

See also bug 128960, bug 78371, bug 118969 and other. The actual problem is that we need better insights to the document structure. There is a proposal at https://design.blog.documentfoundation.org/2019/11/05/proposal-to-conveniently-highlight-and-inspect-styles-in-libreoffice-writer/

Heiko, so LO Help is wrong here: "Removes direct formatting and formatting by character styles from the selection." https://help.libreoffice.org/7.0/en-GB/text/shared/01/05010000.html?&DbPAR=WRITER&System=WIN

Yes, Clear DF clears only DF. Think it's worth a ticket against documentation.
