Description andreas_k 2020-05-01 07:15:28 UTC
LibreOffice has some template and some wizzards with template. The name of the templates are very confuse to me.
Comment 1 andreas_k 2020-05-01 07:18:07 UTC
Document templates
- Default
- Modern
- Modern business letter sans-serif
- Modern business letter serif
- mediwiki
- Businesscard with Logo
- CV
- Resume

Default and Modern should be the first two items (are the last one).

Mediwiki I don't know what it is for, as there is no preview or anything else, it's not easy to understood. Maybe we can add some description how the templates work and are designed for.

Modern business letter sans-serif and Modern business letter sans the names are two long for the template manager.

In Latex the templates are called
- Article
- Book
- Letter
- Report

it's very easy to understood what the template is designed for.

Default, Modern, Elegant, Classic, ... is very difficult to understood cause nobody know what's the meaning. In addition there is an writer Default and Modern template. As writer use the default template by default, would it mean that writer is not modern?

In addition if you use styles it's very simple to change only the font family.

About Letter wizard, have in mind that there's a big regression, see https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75218#c25.
So I don't know what will be done for these but it could be interesting to know right now if letter wizards are just for English users or not.

Don't see renaming as a fix to bad templates. My take: WF.

That's fine than I will add better templates and give the new templates better names.

The only question I have now is, should wizard templates get an update or should we don't care on wizard stuff cause of bug 75218

Don't know how File > Wizards > Letter works. I guess it takes content from the templates. Topic here was the naming- and that's secondary to me. Or ideally a byproduct.
