The function remains active, so you can draw several rectangles in a row without clicking the menu/toolbar command again and again. This behavior is different from Impress/Draw (where you need to double click on the toolbar button to make it stick), and there is Bug 90748 for making Writer/Calc work the same way. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 90748 ***
Ah, didn't realize that.. ouch 1) Ideally the toolbar should be notifying draw shape drawing is on too. However Insert -> Shape -> Basic shape -> doesn't match the button.. grumble 2) Should the shapes sidebar tab (Draw/Impress) not also be in Writer. @Heiko -Abusing the bug report with a question: Should the shapes sidebar tab (Draw/Impress) not also be in Writer.
(In reply to Telesto from comment #2) > -Abusing the bug report with a question: Should the shapes sidebar tab > (Draw/Impress) not also be in Writer. Modules have different use-case and scope. In Writer you focus on text editing and use objects only secondary. The sidebar should provide access to frequently used attributes, which is not the fact here.
