Description: (I assume that the summary gives a sufficient description. Otherwise, please refer to the section "Steps to Reproduce".) Steps to Reproduce: 1. I start LibreOffice 2. In some cases the message 3. LibreOffice update available. Click the icon for more information", 4. There's however no icon This doesn't happen every time that I start LibreOffice, but it does happen from time to time. Actual Results: There's no icon. Expected Results: I had expected an icon that I could click. Reproducible: Sometimes User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Version: 6.4.2.2 Build ID: 4e471d8c02c9c90f512f7f9ead8875b57fcb1ec3 CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.19; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3; Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US Calc: threaded
Created attachment 161312 [details] The balloon with the update remark This image shows the balloon with the update remark, but it also shows there's no icon to click.
I could only test with Version: 6.1.6.3 (x64) Build-ID: 5896ab1714085361c45cf540f76f60673dd96a72 CPU-Threads: 4; BS: Windows 10.0; UI-Render: GL; Gebietsschema: de-DE (de_DE); Calc: group threaded and there I can see the icon (so perhaps regression)
Hello Bart, Does it happen if you launch SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen soffice from command line ?
Hi Xisco, Thank you for chiming in! I'd have to install LibreOffice 6.4 again to try what you requested, but I will. I removed most versions of LibreOffice that I had installed (except 6.1) and I put my postings here on halt, when I noticed that all my posts were copied integrally by another forum. Here's why I stopped posting: From time to time I have innovative ideas. If I add them to the forum here, those ideas can be read, copied and implemented by others, which also includes the competition. They may even implement my ideas before LibreOffice did. And that's not why I'm doing a lot of effort when creating screenshots, Photoshopping them, and describing ideas. (It's more work than you think.) That's not your fault, but maybe it's useful to know. But more important, when I installed LibreOffice 6.4 again I'll check and let you know. ;-)
[Automated Action] NeedInfo-To-Unconfirmed
In a sense this is funny. I installed 6.4.5.2 and I started it. Then I waited for the message "LibreOffice update available." to appear, but it didn't. While waiting I assumed that LibreOffice checks from time to time if it's the latest version. Then I assumed that the version that I just had installed, was actually the latest stable version. So I clicked Help -> Check for updates and I had a box with the message: LibreOffice 6.4 is up to date. Funny, I don't think that the message "LibreOffice update available" will appear soon. I assume I'll have to wait for the next stable version, i.e. the first one after 6.4.5.2, to be released. To be complete, the version that I downloaded and installed is: Version: 6.4.5.2 Build ID: a726b36747cf2001e06b58ad5db1aa3a9a1872d6 CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.19; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3; Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US Calc: threaded
(In reply to Bart from comment #6) > I assume I'll have to wait for the next stable version, i.e. the first one > after 6.4.5.2, to be released. So let's change status back to NEEDINFO then.
Dear Bart, This bug has been in NEEDINFO status with no change for at least 6 months. Please provide the requested information as soon as possible and mark the bug as UNCONFIRMED. Due to regular bug tracker maintenance, if the bug is still in NEEDINFO status with no change in 30 days the QA team will close the bug as INSUFFICIENTDATA due to lack of needed information. For more information about our NEEDINFO policy please read the wiki located here: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Bugzilla/Fields/Status/NEEDINFO If you have already provided the requested information, please mark the bug as UNCONFIRMED so that the QA team knows that the bug is ready to be confirmed. Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone! Warm Regards, QA Team MassPing-NeedInfo-Ping
Dear QA Team, I have been contributing to this forum, like reporting suspected bugs and helping to confirm/unconfirm problems from others, with a lot of pleasure. That changed when I noticed that some of my posts were integrally copied by another forum. (A remark about that can also be found in Comment 4 in this thread.) More information can be found here: 132664 – The posts that I made here, also appear somewhere else? https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132664 If I offer my time and effort to LibreOffice, then I offer my time and effort to LibreOffice and not to other forums. The only option that I seem to have is to stop contributing here, and that's what I did. I'm really sorry, but as long as my remarks can be copied by other forums, I can't offer my time and effort to LibreOffice. I hope this answers your questions. ;-) Many thanks to all those who make and maintain LibreOffice. I had loved to be part of the team, but that doesn't seem to be an option. With finest regards, Bart.
Bart, thanks for your comment. As I could see, Xisco is already in cc-list. If he doesn't answer to your comment during the next days, please sent him your question/comment directly per mail.
Hello Bart, This issue looks like a duplicate of bug 113205 and it's fixed since 6.1.5. Regarding your concerns in comment 9. What do you mean when you say "That changed when I noticed that some of my posts were integrally copied by another forum." ? is another user copying as pasting your comments ? *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 113205 ***
oh, I see the problem, it's about comments being duplicated in launchpad. Could you please write Florian about that? <floeff[at]documentfoundation.org>

Dear QA Team, Please refer to Comment 9 of this post. For your convenience, here's a direct link: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133425#c9 Sincerely, Bart.

Bart, Xisco answered in comment 12 and asked you to write Florian. Have you done that? What do you still miss regarding comment 9? => Needinfo
Dieter, yes I did write to Florian. That was in Jan/Feb. 2021. The emails were constructive, but they didn't lead to changes. Since entire threads from this website can be copied by other websites, I can't give any other details about these emails. What I miss still miss regarding comment 9? When I noticed that threads here could be integrally copied by other websites, I stopped posting here about bugs, features, improvements, etc. etc. That also means I can't answer your question. I hope you understand. Thank you for your patience. Sincerely, Bart.
I think that this is bug 113205. Has been there since LibO 5.xx. Was marked as fixed, but I think I never saw that icon working in Linux KDE.
Was later reopened as a new bug, i.e., bug 132350, with the purpose of specifying that the fix to 113205 was still not enough on the Kf5 VCL.

Looks like it got fixed on 2022-05-28. As Bart does not want to interact with the tracker anymore, we should close this one
