I could only test with

Version: 6.1.6.3 (x64)
Build-ID: 5896ab1714085361c45cf540f76f60673dd96a72
CPU-Threads: 4; BS: Windows 10.0; UI-Render: GL;
Gebietsschema: de-DE (de_DE); Calc: group threaded

and there I can see the icon (so perhaps regression)

Hello Bart,
Does it happen if you launch SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen soffice from command line ?

Hi Xisco,

Thank you for chiming in!

I'd have to install LibreOffice 6.4 again to try what you requested, but I will.

I removed most versions of LibreOffice that I had installed (except 6.1) and I put my postings here on halt, when I noticed that all my posts were copied integrally by another forum. Here's why I stopped posting:

From time to time I have innovative ideas. If I add them to the forum here, those ideas can be read, copied and implemented by others, which also includes the competition. They may even implement my ideas before LibreOffice did. And that's not why I'm doing a lot of effort when creating screenshots, Photoshopping them, and describing ideas. (It's more work than you think.) That's not your fault, but maybe it's useful to know.

But more important, when I installed LibreOffice 6.4 again I'll check and let you know. ;-)

In a sense this is funny.

I installed 6.4.5.2 and I started it. Then I waited for the message
  "LibreOffice update available."
to appear, but it didn't.

While waiting I assumed that LibreOffice checks from time to time if it's the latest version. Then I assumed that the version that I just had installed, was actually the latest stable version.

So I clicked
  Help -> Check for updates
and I had a box with the message:
  LibreOffice 6.4 is up to date.

Funny, I don't think that the message
  "LibreOffice update available"
will appear soon.

I assume I'll have to wait for the next stable version, i.e. the first one after 6.4.5.2, to be released.

To be complete, the version that I downloaded and installed is:

Version: 6.4.5.2
Build ID: a726b36747cf2001e06b58ad5db1aa3a9a1872d6
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.19; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: threaded

So let's change status back to NEEDINFO then.

Dieter, yes I did write to Florian. That was in Jan/Feb. 2021.

The emails were constructive, but they didn't lead to changes. Since entire threads from this website can be copied by other websites, I can't give any other details about these emails.

What I miss still miss regarding comment 9? When I noticed that threads here could be integrally copied by other websites, I stopped posting here about bugs, features, improvements, etc. etc. That also means I can't answer your question.

I hope you understand.

Thank you for your patience.

Sincerely, Bart.

I think that this is bug 113205. Has been there since LibO 5.xx. Was marked as fixed, but I think I never saw that icon working in Linux KDE.
Comment 22 Callegar 2022-03-03 15:43:21 UTC
Was later reopened as a new bug, i.e., bug 132350, with the purpose of specifying that the fix to 113205 was still not enough on the Kf5 VCL.

Looks like it got fixed on 2022-05-28.

As Bart does not want to interact with the tracker anymore, we should close this one
