as the attachment screenshot shows, when i try to edit a chart, sidebar goes completely insane. as a workaround i restore window size from maximized. i'm on kde plasma(arch linux) btw

So you just have the sidebar visible, double-click the chart and it goes bonkers? I don't see it here with the exact same setup as you.

Please try with version 7.
Set to NEEDINFO.
Change back to UNCONFIRMED, if the problem persists. Change to RESOLVED WORKSFORME, if the problem went away.

Not sure why you would set to insufficientdata - maybe you don't use Plasma anymore? Assuming you still use Plasma and the problem went away and changing to WFM instead.
