Description Albert Acer 2020-06-11 05:10:50 UTC
Description:
When I'm editing a document with hyperlinks, in LO 6.4.4 in Spanish, if I execute a right-click on any of those hyperlinks, in the contextual menu that is displayed, I find an option to remove that hyperlink. However, that option appears in English (Remove Hyperlink) and not in Spanish as it should be. This occurs in all LO 6.4.4 applications in Spanish (Write, Calc, Impress, etc.).

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open LibreOffice 6.4.4.2 in Spanish
2. Open a document with hyperlinks.
3. Right-click on a hyperlink.
4. Observe the context menu that is displayed there.

Actual Results:
The option "Remove Hyperlink" appears in English and not in Spanish as it should be.

Expected Results:
LibreOffice should put "Quitar Hiperenlace" instead of "Remove Hyperlink".
This solution should also appear in LO 7.0 in Spanish.

Reproducible: Always

In the image that I am attaching today 11-June-2020, you can see how and where the translation error appears.

Comment 3 Julien Nabet 2020-06-11 12:54:31 UTC
On Win10 with master sources updated today, I could reproduce this.
Comment 4 Julien Nabet 2020-06-11 13:03:03 UTC
On Weblate, no translation indeed, see:
https://translations.documentfoundation.org/translate/libo_ui-master/officecfgregistrydataorgopenofficeofficeui/es/?checksum=f45f9ea747717ed8#nearby

I propose:
~Quitar hiperenlace

(since "Q" isn't used as a shortcut in context menu here)

Is it ok for you?
Comment 5 Albert Acer 2020-06-12 10:11:40 UTC
Yes, it's ok, thanks.
Comment 6 Albert Acer 2020-06-12 10:18:09 UTC
I have a question:
Who should I contact to propose some specific improvements for LibreOffice?
Comment 7 Julien Nabet 2020-06-12 12:21:55 UTC
Done now:
https://translations.documentfoundation.org/translate/libo_ui-master/officecfgregistrydataorgopenofficeofficeui/es/?checksum=f45f9ea747717ed8#nearby

About specific improvements, it depends on which part (code, UI, translation, etc.). Anyway, you can submit a bugtracker and choose importance "Enhancement" value.
Comment 8 Albert Acer 2020-06-12 23:53:05 UTC
I want to propose some small improvements in the LibreOffice Writer interface, improvements that were implemented many years ago in other office suites such as: WPS Office Writer (from Kingsoft ), FreeOffice TextMaker (from SoftMaker), also including the Microsoft application (Word). I am talking, first of all, about the need to add, in the LibreOffice Writer interface, a new button to call the Contextual Menu of Change of Uppercase and Lowercase letters. Also, I want to refer to the need to improve the basic process to insert the Page Number in a text document in Writer, a process that is very developed and automated in the applications that I mentioned previously, while in LibreOffice Writer the function of inserting the Page Number does not have an automated process available where We, the users, can indicate to the text processor where to fix the page number, in the Header or in the Footer, aligned to the left, center or right, as in all other modern office suites. This is understandable in OpenOffice because they stopped evolving in the last 10 years, but LibreOffice should already make the difference with them in this theme. I consider these shortcomings are one of the few characteristics that LibreOffice does not have to facilitate working with text documents at professional and academic levels. In everything else the development is excellent.
Comment 9 Albert Acer 2020-06-13 05:05:07 UTC
Complementing the proposal made in my previous comment, I want to explain that a new button to invoke the menu that allows us to change text to Upper or Lower Case, in the User Interface for LibreOffice Writer and Impress, should be located in the Toolbar of " Format "in the old interface, and in the Toolbar corresponding to the Home tab in the new User Interface with tabs.

I am very aware that the subject of my last comments is not related to this Bug (133884), which has already been fixed to be solved in LO 6.4.5 and 7.0 in Spanish. For this reason I ask which email can I write to send these improvement proposals? Or, Mr. Julien Nabet, do you want to propose these improvements to the LibreOffice development team? This would be of great benefit to the LO user community.

Xisco/Heiko: before asking Albert to submit 2 enhancement requests, I'd like your opinion first about his 2 last comments.
Indeed, I wouldn't like to make him create these for nothing. Of course, if these ideas need to be developped/discussed, creating these would then be useful.

> ...a new button to call the Contextual Menu of Change of Uppercase
> and Lowercase letters.

I understand this as a request to toggle between upper and lower case, and likely also normal case. We have Upper- and Lowercase available to customize into any toolbar. And also the Cycle Case function, which is available via Format > Text and per Shift+F3. I don't see need for a button on the toolbar. Keep in mind that we have to support small screens and more buttons don't fit onto the toolbar resp. would go into the overflow menu.

> need to improve the basic process to insert the Page Number

Don't understand this. What exactly is missing or inconvenient? Please describe work flow and expectation. Ideally also double-check bug 108746 that a similar request has not been done yet.

First: Thanks.
Infinite thanks to you, to all the developers and others who work for the LibreOffice Project. I express this because the majority of users generally demand and demand solutions for the bugs that are reported, but they rarely say thanks to those who work selflessly on this project. But contrary to them, I do thank infinitely for the existence of Free Software, because it is a good for all humanity

Second: About the issue related to improving the whole process to Insert the Page Number into documents, when we are working on LO Writer, I discovered the existence of Bug 86630, which was created in 2014 and currently, June 2020, almost six years later, is still open, stagnant, without any resolution from the LibreOffice team. As I am philosophically identified with the nature of that bug, I decided that I will take the spokesperson on it, bearing in mind that Mr. Yousuf Philips (its author) is retired.

Third:
Regarding the topic of the button to convert text from lowercase to uppercase or the opposite, I am referring in general to the whole set of functions that have to do with operations to convert text to uppercase, to initial capitals in sentences, to uppercase initials on each word, etc. I know that LibreOffice Writer already has those options using the old Format> Text path ...
However, I will relate the following trying to be understood. When we activate the new User Interface with Tabs, with which we feel more comfortable working, because young people and we, the users who come from the Windows environment, who were previously using Microsoft Office, are very pleased to use that new interface, then in that new LO scenario the old Menus Bar disappears, which is very logical, and it is precisely there when we notice the absence of that button, which in the modern MS Word interface does exist, giving access to that set of functions to change text to upper or lower case without having to resort to hidden paths.

We, the new LO users, activate the new tabbed interface because we don't like the main interface, because its style is too outdated, because that was what we had criticized so many times in OpenOffice, the lack of evolution and innovation and its old, archaic and obsolete interface similar to old Microsoft Word 2000 and 2003. But when in 2017 some media published that LibreOffice was working very hard to develop a new concept of User Interface, based on tabs that alternatively encompass the entire interface LibreOffice, with a very fresh and innovative vision, we saw that the LO project began to strongly attract former users of Microsoft Office and I am one of them. So now I promote the use of LibreOffice instead of MS Office, because many of us understood that, even if we continued to use Windows, we could start migrating from Microsoft Office to LibreOffcie, so that we could free ourselves from Office (from Microsoft). Therefore, in the toolbar of the Home tab, in the new interface of LO Writer (which is our favorite), that button that I have spoken about and that other suites such as WPS Office Writer (from Kingsoft), FreeOffice TextMaker (from SoftMaker) have created in the modern user interface of their applications. That's all I have to say.

So let's keep this discussion on the other ticket.

> User Interface with Tabs...

Please file a ticket with this enhancement request. Personally, I disagree but let's see what the NB designer thinks.
