Description Simon Noble 2020-06-24 00:35:00 UTC
Description:
When printing a document in LO 6.4.4.2 Calc, the dialogue box only handles one copy at a time. I have reverted to LO 6.4.3.2. which has the extra feature that permits a selection of any multiple copies per print run.

Actual Results:
Open a document in LibreOfice Calc v 6.4.4.2
Request a print run.
Print dialogue box is not complete. Missing function.

Expected Results:
I can only request single copies. I should be able to select multiple copies.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
On LibreOffice 6.4.3.2 Calc I can set a print run up for any number of copies.

I reverted to my last version (6.4.3.2) which works OK.

Confirmed with dup tdf#134422
Comment 3 Ulf Dunkel 2020-07-01 09:35:37 UTC
This issue does not only relate to CALC, but to all other LO components like WRITER, IMPRESS, DRAW, because they all share the same Print dialog layout now.
Comment 4 Ulf Dunkel 2020-07-02 09:52:21 UTC
If you want to fix this issue by re-layouting the print dialog, I recommend orienting on the new Adobe Acrobat (Reader) print dialog which is layouted in landscape format and really shows the most important print parameters without having to open a subview or tab first.

It's a consequence of bug 127782. The same topic with hidden features is discussed also in bug 134640. I see only two options: a) distribute the settings over different tabs, b) expand all by default and (always) scroll down, and c) keep the less important sections close (as it is). Okay, we could also introduce two UIs, one for small screens with only a very limited number of settings and collapsed sections and another for larger screens. Or just expand the "more" sections if the screen is large enough (would be easy to do).

I suggest to make this ticket a duplicate of bug 134640.

I remember that bug tracking systems should not mark older bug numbers duplicates of younger ones. Anyway, it becomes evident that more users are frustrated because of this dialog layout change.
Comment 9 Ulf Dunkel 2020-07-14 07:54:27 UTC
Please note that when the Print dialog is opened and you press [Cursor up] multiple times, the number of copies will be increased, no matter if you have disclosed the "More" view of the relevant dialog section. This is very counter-intuitive and users may even increase the number of copies so by mistake because with the nondisclosed "More" view there is no optical feedback when you press [Cursor up] on your keyboard.

Could be solved by placing the initial focus somewhere else, eg. the range radio buttons.

Some issues around this dialog got improved, so maybe also this one. But I'll make it a duplicate anyway to keep the topics concise.
