Description: after update to Windows 10 2004 Writer freezes during writing. There is nothing I can do except to kill the task via task manager. and hope the automatic backup has worked in order to save the odt file after a restart of Writer. during freeze i can't see the topics of the menus, they seem to be empty. Steps to Reproduce: 1. open odt file 2. write 3. blocks, freezes Actual Results: see above Expected Results: see above Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: de-freeze after a while
Could you give a try at https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps ?
hi there thanks for your hint. i updated now to 6.4.5 64bit. but the same freeze occurs. after 3-4 minutes, out of the blue, just during writing.
Thank you for your feedback. Since I don't have more questions, I'll put it back to UNCONFIRMED.
Created attachment 162651 [details] menu just before freezing regularly the freeze occurs after 3-4 minutes after opening a odt file. as i have mentionned before, the menus look empty. but before the freezing takes place some menus look like the one i attached.
some menu items in calc look very similar to the screenshot for writer. so it seems as if the freezing is something global to libreoffice 6.4.5 ?!
Just to be sure, you applied what https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps contained? - rename your LO directory profile - disable OpenGL ?
I've just noticed you assigned yourself, do you really mean you want to fix the bug by providing a patch?
(In reply to Julien Nabet from comment #6) > Just to be sure, you applied what > https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps contained? > - rename your LO directory profile > - disable OpenGL > ? i restarted - as recommended - in safe mode to see if the problem with the menu items is still there. it disappeared - so it can't be a problem of the profile as it says in https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Resolving_corruption_in_the_user_profile so the grafic problem is solved. and about the freeze: i will observe what happens and then will report back.

If there's no problem with safe mode, it can indeed be a profile with the profile. So you should rename your LO directory profile and give it a try.
(In reply to Julien Nabet from comment #6) > - disable OpenGL OpenGL was already disabled all along
(In reply to grac from comment #11) > (In reply to Julien Nabet from comment #6) > > - disable OpenGL > > OpenGL was already disabled all along Ok but it doesn't respond to my previous comment. "If there's no problem with safe mode, it can indeed be a profile with the profile. So you should rename your LO directory profile and give it a try."
(In reply to Julien Nabet from comment #12) > So you should rename your LO directory profile and give it a try. interestingly the freeze is gone by now. meanwhile i have copied the profile and will delete the used profile as soon as the freeze occurs again. and i then will contact you again in this thread. i hope this is ok with you?
Let's put this one to WFM then. If you still reproduce this, don't hesitate to reopen this tracker.
