Description rik 2020-08-14 08:16:46 UTC
Hi,
when i insert a certain (unrotated) image in Libre office writer, either via Copy-paste, or via the insert an image menu item, Libre Office writer asks me if I want to rotate the image. There are 2 bugs associated with this:
1. when i opt for "yes", the image is not inserted and Libre Office (all parts, also Calc etc) crashes. I've tried multiple times.
2. when i opt for "no", the image is inserted, but it is rotated:). Which is fine, but not what I opted for.
Rik

Could you give a try to last LO version 6.4.6?

Also, if you still reproduce this with 6.4.6, would it be possible you attach the image?

Comment 4 rik 2020-08-15 21:34:29 UTC
wait I just gave it a few minutes, and after a long while the image is inserted in the end. Long wait though.
Comment 5 rik 2020-08-15 21:34:54 UTC
when I click "no" for do not rotate, the images is inserted immediately

tested with Version: 7.1.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: ce6c6a5ad6c9dde09bb0bb0c51e16d828cfe0ef7
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: cs-CZ (cs_CZ.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

I have not any "do you want rotate image", but it takes abut 20 sec to insert image - it's long time, other images are inserted immediatelly.

perf flamegraph

I don't have rotation dialog too but attached a Flamegraph considering perf pb.

Tomaž: thought you might be interested in this one for perf pb. (see Flamegraph attached).

So because the width or height of the JPEG wasn't mod 16, it had to rotate to a PNG bitmap, which uses the slowest compression (level 9) and takes a looooong time with big images.

Hello,
Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ?
I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version.
