Description Lars-Erik 2020-08-14 08:33:21 UTC
Description:
After I fire up Libreoffice 7.0 and doing nothing for a while, LibreOffice suddenly dies.
The same thing occurs if I start Writer, Calc, etc and begin to edit a document. I don't now the reason why it dies. Time intervals occur randomly, but after a short time. I don't know why this happens.
I use Fedora 32 whit latest and the greatest patches and an Nvidia driver 450.57.
CentOS 8.2 works with LibreOffice-6.4.6 om my laptop. For your information I tested LibreOffice-6.4.6 on Fedora 32 and the same thing happens. I run Fedora 32 on a desktop computer.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start it and wait for a while
2.
3.

Actual Results:
LibreOffice restart is self and asks for recovering the document and asks for sending a crash report.

Expected Results:
If I started a new document LibreOffice 7 returns to an empty document after a recovering sesion.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
Working so I can work whit my document, which is not possible for the moment.

As I wrote earlier, I use Fedora 32 and installed the latest and greatest patches. My computer i equipped with an 8 years old XEON processor and 16 Gb RAM. When I fire up Libreoffice i starts and looks good for about 15 - 20 seconds, and then i dies. I don't need to do anything.

To day, 29 august, I downloaded LibreOffice 7.0.1 RC2 and installed it. The same thing happens. It dies after about 30 - 40 seconds.

I run Centos 7.8 on a laptop and used Libreoffice 7.0. It worked perfectly. Now it's updated to LibreOffice 7.0.1 RC2 and it runs with out a problem as far as I know. An old HP.

I tested LibreOffice 7.0 on my work computer, it runs Windows 10, and Libreoffice 7.0 terminated even faster. Just a couple of seconds. It's a newer HP.
No problems with LibreOffice-6.4.6.

Hi!

Exporting a document from Calc to PDF does not work. I got the the following error message then clicking the PDF-button and after that, the Save button in the Export dialogue window. Libreoffice answers with a pop-up dialogue with following information

Error saving the document XYZt
General Error
General input/output error

My operating system is Fedora 32 with the latest and greatest patches.

Hello!

Today 200917 I downloaded LibreOffice 7.0.2.1 RC1. LibreOffice suddenly dies and start recovering the document I opend and it's not possible to save a document as PDF-file. I looked at following directory, /home/leng/.config/libreoffice/4/crash/ and found this file: dump.ini

ProductName=LibreOffice
Version=7.0.2.1
BuildID=ede20268f3f8777cdf69e0281835d320c41213fc
URL=https://crashreport.libreoffice.org/submit/
UseSkia=false
AdapterVendorId=NVIDIA Corporation
AdapterDeviceId=GeForce GTX 1060 3GB/PCIe/SSE2
UseOpenGL=false
Language=en-US
ShutDown=true

Could it be the nvidia-driver that cause the problems?

Does User Profile Reset Yes mean that you already try that?
You say OpenGL enabled Yes, did you try without it in Options-View?
Can you try daily master version, either install from TDF or 1 file exec from https://libreoffice.soluzioniopen.com/daily-version/?

Hello!

I changed my operating system from Fedora 32 XFCE Desktop to Fedora 32 Compiz-MATE and the problem dissapeard. I run Fedora 33 Compiz_MATE now and it never hangs with Libreoffice latest stable version.
My conlusion is that it was something in the Fedora 32 XFCE Desktop release that made LibreOffice to die. Since I changed my operating system I never thought of the bug more. I must say that I never have tested the new version Fedora 33 XFCE with Libreoffice, so I have no answer for that version.
