Description: According to the release notes for LO 6.2 (https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/6.2#Base), Firebase embedded became non-experimental with that release. But in LO 7.0.0.3, "Firebase Embedded" is not an available option, when creating a new embedded database. Only "HSQLDB Embedded" is listed. "Firebase Embedded" becomes available only, if experimental features are turned on. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start LibreOffice 7.0.0.3 2. Make sure, experimental features are off 3. File > New > Database 4. In the "Database Wizard", select "Create a new database" Actual Results: Dropdown "Embedded database" only offers "HSQLDB Embedded" Expected Results: Dropdown "Embedded database" should also offer "Firebird Embedded" Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: Version: 7.0.0.3 (x64) Build ID: 8061b3e9204bef6b321a21033174034a5e2ea88e CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19041; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: de-CH (de_CH); UI: en-US Calc: threaded
You need to set up, Menu/Tools/Options/LibreOffice/Advanced - Optional features - Experimental mode.
(In reply to m.a.riosv from comment #1) > You need to set up, Menu/Tools/Options/LibreOffice/Advanced - Optional > features - Experimental mode. That is exactly the point. I think that's a bug, because according to the release notes of LO 6.2 (https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/6.2#Base), this isn't a experimental feature anymore. Quote from the release notes: > Support for Base files using embedded Firebird RDBMS becomes non experimental in this release I also checked the later release notes. None of them revert on that statement.
I've put it back to experimental with https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=dc3c6e64650f0347648598dae0fa67c296ad36f5. m.a.riosv: about release notes, I don't know well who deals with it. I mean it's been like this since 6.3 I think. Should we update 6.3 release notes (but I suppose it should be read-only like 6.4) or rather 7.0 to indicate it was forgotten, or something else?

So using HSQLDB is recommended for most users? > m.a.riosv: about release notes, I don't know well who deals with it. I mean > it's been like this since 6.3 I think. This is from the release notes for LO 6.2. To me, that reads as the missing information should be added to the release notes for the affected version. This is also, where I as a user would expect to find that information. > This is the page with our 6.2 release notes. It should be final now that the 6.2 version itself has been released. However, if you spot any missing or incorrect information, then please let us know. Thanks in advance for your help! Interestingly the same paragraph is missing from the 6.3 release notes.
Seems the first version affected is 6.4. I'll ask in Telegram LibreOffice QA, if someone can update 6.4 release notes.

I got an account so can update https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/6.4#Base. What about: "Firebird embedded database creation put back experimental considering the number of bugs." ?
Fine for me.
(In reply to m.a.riosv from comment #7) > Fine for me. Thank you for the feedback. Done now.
