If I install Discord from .deb file, I don't have to worry if there is new version available. I don't have to manually check it myself.

And if users don't like to update the app, they can uncheck the "check update in a startup" option.

I think we should have something similar when it comes LO too. It can be a time savior.

Currently, I have installed Snap's version of LO which is the latest. I have to uninstall LO which I had installed APT repository since its too old.

Problem is, Snaps run slow in comparison to APT or .deb file which is download from LO official website.

But sadly, LO never tells the user if there is a new version available and not to mention giving a popup option to redirect users to download a new .deb file (like Discord).

This can be a time savior, very user friendly and common thing to provide. Discord is not just one app that does this.

Please go to Tools - Options - LibreOffice - Online Update and check if "Check foir updates automatically" is checked in your case.

LibreOffice 7.0.1.2 installed from Snap repo.
I went to LO Writer > Tools > Options > Libre Office and I see a lot of sub-options like:

User Data
General
View
Print
Paths
Fonts
Security
Personalization
Application Colors
Accessibility
Advanced
OpenCL

Where exactly can I see the option which says "Check for updates automatically"? Do I have to install the LO.deb package in order to see that option?

Yes, maybe.
I have .deb version.
Comment 5 BogdanB 2020-09-11 11:25:49 UTC
Between Advanced and OpenCL, there should be that option.

Wow. Cool. Thanks. I will uninstall snap's LibreOffice. And install debain package.

(Hoping its not a bad idea. Is it?)

I use only .deb version from the official website. A good decision!
