Created attachment 165398 [details]
.odt file with linked fields

FILEOPEN: Attached .odt file contains internally linked fields.

It opens & functions fine in Writer 6.x

In Writer 7.0, attempting to opening the file brings up the confirmation window

"The document NotebookTabs.odt contains one or more links to external date. Would you like to change the document, and update all links to get the most recent data?"

Choosing Yes OR choosing No hangs Writer.

I confirm, that writer becomes unresponsive, but I recieve no crash

Version: 7.0.1.2 (x64)
Build ID: 7cbcfc562f6eb6708b5ff7d7397325de9e764452
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19041; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-GB
Calc: threaded

Just for clarification: Does it really crash?
Comment 2 Richard Manning 2020-09-12 16:25:14 UTC
Sorry I was imprecise: it hangs. File doesn't load, application title bar says (Not Responding). I gave it 30 minutes. Nada.

Comment 5 Richard Manning 2021-03-31 15:20:01 UTC
Just tried it again with 7.1.1.2 and the file opens and works FINE, as do all my other similar linked-field files. Looks like the bug got fixed somewhere between 7.0.1.2 and 7.1.1.2. Many thanks to whoever LibreWizards squashed it.

Version: 7.1.1.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: fe0b08f4af1bacafe4c7ecc87ce55bb426164676
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19041; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded
Comment 6 Xisco Faulí 2021-03-31 17:58:13 UTC

Comment 7 Xisco Faulí 2021-04-01 08:44:07 UTC
I tried to bisect when the problem was fixed but I couldn't find anything useful.
In fact, I don't reproduce it in

Version: 7.1.0.3 (x86) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: f6099ecf3d29644b5008cc8f48f42f4a40986e4c
CPU threads: 2; OS: Windows 6.1 Service Pack 1 Build 7601; UI render: default; VCL: win
Locale: es-ES (es_ES); UI: es-ES
Calc: threaded

anymore. Weird...
Anyway, happy to see the issue is fixed
