Telesto, unfortunately nothing has happened with this bug report for more than half year. So I'd like to ask, if it is still valid. Could you please try to reproduce it with the actual master?

I confirm it with

Version: 7.2.2.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 02b2acce88a210515b4a5bb2e46cbfb63fe97d56
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19043; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-GB
Calc: CL

CPU increases up to more than 30%

Additional informations:
Can't see a effect of spell checking here (same result with automatic spell checking disabled

Still present in

Version: 24.2.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: c0c8cffd3541e3cd616c96791b04e7ebf2b2ed03
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-GB
Calc: CL threaded

But I would say it is really trivial.
