1. Navigator 2. Table of Content 3. Click on ToC item to highlight 4. Click the downward arrow to demote chapter X 5. Highlight moves to prior chapter 6. Need to select chapter X again 7. Click the downward arrow to demote chapter X In the previous versions of Writer, the same chapter X stayed highlighted so that you could execute a series of demotions of the same chapter without having to execute step 6. The way it is now, it is better to perform a cut and paste of a chapter (or section and move it that way.
If you use "Content Navigation View" in navigator you can select several headings. Does this solve your problem? => NEEDINFO
Dieter, It does not solve the problem. In fact, when I demote chapters, some of the content in the chapter itself seems to get deleted. I would probably be better if I could directly show it to you ....

Ben, try to create a video on youtube, or a screencast...
See attached file for a recording of the issue. Please delete the file after the issue has been solved.
Please upload the video.
Created attachment 165670 [details] Chapter promotion issue See textual explanation earlier in this ticket trail. The same issue occurs for demotions and at section level.
Let me know if you can play the video because, when I click on the link, it does not seem to be the case.
Here is a link which may allow you to play: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RWmMjIixdAuZfJpw-66ZmrOBOx2hS2-K/view?usp=sharing
Ok, thanks for the video. The problem is clear. I try now to create a sample document in order to repro this bug and to investigate further. Thanks again.
I checked in version 7.0.1.2 on linux and no problem. You can see my video. If the video doesn't play right click and choose Download or Save as... on your computer. Works perfectly fine on "the document to test" on my Windows 10 machine. I have recreated the ToC in my document and still have the issue. Might it be that I have a currupted file?
Another thing I found is that, if I cut a piece of text containing Tables, then text gets removed but the tables stay in place without the content. It apears that the cut operation is performed partially. Could this be related?
The only way to get rid of the tables is to delete all of its rows.

I don't think, an as far as I remember this is the current behaviour of LO, but there has been reported a bug for that. But don't let's mix two different issues here.
