Description Fan Alles 2020-10-08 19:26:39 UTC
Description:
When opening a document I used for years with previous versions of LO Writer, when I open it with LO 7.x. Only one page is displayed, when moving to another page the program is not longer responding and I see a blue ring circling.
I use an up to date version of Windows 10.
There are no problems with other documents. Only this one, which have about 100 pages.
I already tried starting LO in safe-mode but this didn't help.

Actual Results:
Program not responding

Expected Results:
It happens every time with the same document

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
The only solution is killing LO.

I reproduce in LO 7.0 and 7.1+ in Windows, flapping between 111 and 112 pages. Regression, LO 6.4 used to open 110 pages. Not in Linux, opens 109 pages.
We have a separate bug for difference in number of pages (I don't expect it to be resolved).

In Win 7.0 bibisect repo, the badness doesn't manifest with flapping, but just hanging. I was unable to get a proper result.

tested with 7.2+ linux. Started off at 109 pages, dropped to 91 by the time I slowly got to the bottom of the document, then hit 110 at least once. After a few minutes it does seem to have settled down at 109, and I can move around fairly freely.

Dear Fan Alles,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword
