Description Pitti Platsch 2020-10-14 16:17:17 UTC
Description:
Dear people,

in the format toolbar, the textfield/selector for the current style (f.i. "Text Body", "Heading 2", etc....) is not refreshing if the cursor enters a region with a new style.

Instead the new style's name is written on top of the old style's name, which decreases (or in cases impedes) user's knowledge of what actual style is applied at the current cursor.

Please, do something! ;)

Greetings from Germany

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start LibreOffice Writer
2. Write a small text and assign a style to it.
3. Write a small text and assign a style to it (right, a second one).
4. Change the cursor from the second piece of text to the first piece of text.

Actual Results:
5. Observe the overlapping of style names in the format toolbar's style textfield/selector.

Expected Results:
No overlapping of style names in the format toolbar's style textfield/selector.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
If you save the document, then the style textfield/selector is refreshed and no looks properly, i.e. no overlapping takes place.

There is a typo in my additional information. The typo was in the word "now". The additional information should read:

"If you save the document, then the style textfield/selector is refreshed and now looks properly, i.e. no overlapping takes place."

By "save the document" I mean pressing ctrl+s. To see the effect of properly refreshing, the document is required to already exist.

The bug occurred after the (X)Ubuntu update from 18.04 to 20.04, i.e. it occurs in 20.04, but it didn't occur at 18.04. The user interface is Xfce, i.e. it's actually Xubuntu.

Does it also happen in SafeMode (Help => Restart in SafeMode)?

Yes, it also happens in SafeMode.

Did I mention that it happens in an Ubuntu Xfce environment?

Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version. Change to RESOLVED WORKSFORME, if the problem went away. Please paste also informations from Help => About LibreOffice. Thank you.

After running "sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa", updating and ugprading, I have now Version 7.0.3.1 (Help --> About LibreOffice).

Fortunately, the problem is no longer present.

Thank you for your help, Dieter. Danke für Ihre Hilfe.

But I must critically add that for a normal user it is sophisticated work to add external sources and to update and upgrade. So it would probably better to have the latest version in the packages by default.
