I can't confirm it with an own image or with the screenshot in your attachment, but I can confirm it with the first image in your attachment

Version: 7.0.3.1 (x64)
Build ID: d7547858d014d4cf69878db179d326fc3483e082
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19042; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-GB
Calc: threaded

So I assume it depends on the image. Does it have a special format or is there anything else special, that might cause the issue?
Comment 3 Nicolas Christener 2020-11-05 08:45:46 UTC
Thanks @Dieter for having a look at this.

The picture is not really "special", I think it was made using an iPhone (some years ago).

But Gimp tells me, that it has an embedded color profile - maybe this triggers the issue (just a wild guess).

I'll add the original picture to BZ as well and will make some more tests.

Original picture which seems to trigger the issue

Based on the feedback of Dieter it seems, that it's not a general issue and only certain pictures actually trigger the problem. I therefore add the original file for testing purpose as well.
Comment 5 Nicolas Christener 2020-11-05 08:54:59 UTC
Hi Dieter

I think I found the "trick" - it's not about the picture itself.

This is the way how I can trigger it:
* insert picture
* right click on the picture > Wrap > Wrap Through
* right click on the picture > Wrap > Edit Contour... > "draw" circle and accept, close dialog
* save document
* close document
* open docuemt again

Result: contour will be lost

The "magic" button that triggers the issue is "Wrap Through".

Can you recheck if this happens in your installation as well?

Yes, that's it!

Steps to reproduce
1. Open document with image
2. Select image => context menu => wrap => wrap through
3. Wrap > Edit Contour…
4. Make a circle contour, apply and close
4. The picture is a circle now
5. Save document
6. Reload document

Actual Results:
Picture is shown square again

Expected Results:
Picture should be shown as a circle

Still present in

Version: 7.4.3.1 (x64) / LibreOffice Community

Comment 9 Justin L 2023-05-30 17:35:16 UTC
repro 7.6+
The contour is saved, just not applied. Already true in OOo.

Steps to reproduce:
-open contour_not_saved.odt and notice a square picture at the top.
-right click on image - wrap - edit contour and notice a defined circle.

See comment 6 for steps that actually apply the circle (which effect is lost on a reload).

Interestingly, just changing the wrap to a something other than "through" doesn't help, and neither does setting to contour wrapping. The contour needs to be edited in order to be re-applied.

Locale: pl-PL (pl_PL); UI: en-US
Calc: CL threaded

Dear Nicolas Christener,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword
