Description Hudson 2020-10-22 00:13:13 UTC
Description:
Hello, everybody!

Firstly, sorry by my English, I am Brazilian and speak Portuguese.
=)

I've tried to report this problem in the Portuguese community, but I did not have a solution yet.

I need to insert new headers with different content for each page.

However, I need to fill the headers with data not provided by titles nor section, but handly inserted.

For example, consider the following example of formatting of headers:

Left page 1--------Different header--------------

Right page 2--------for each page--------------

Left page 3---------without use----------------

Right page 4--------title nor section-----------

Left page 5---------------but text---------------

Right page 6--------handly inserted--------------

I have tried to unmark the checkboxes in Page Style,
"Same content on right and left pages" and "Same content on first page", but it did not work.

What I need to do to fix this problem? If it isn't a problem, but a inexistent resource of Writer, could it be included into the program?

Thanks in advance!

Steps to Reproduce:
For example, consider the following example of formatting of headers:

Left page 1--------Different header--------------

Right page 2--------for each page--------------

Left page 3---------without use----------------

Right page 4--------title nor section-----------

Left page 5---------------but text---------------

Right page 6--------handly inserted--------------

Actual Results:
Left page 1--------Different header--------------

Right page 2--------for each page--------------

Left page 3---------without use----------------

Right page 4-------for each page---------------

Left page 5---------without use---------------

Right page 6--------for each page--------------

Expected Results:

Left page 1--------Header different--------------

Right page 2--------for each page--------------

Left page 3---------without use----------------

Right page 4--------title nor section-----------

Left page 5---------------but text---------------

Right page 6--------handly inserted--------------

Reproducible: Always

Hudson, thanks for your enhancement request. For me it sounds like a very seldom cornercase and therefor - to be honest - I won't support the enhancement request. But let's aks Design-Team for decision.

As a workaround you can work with different page styles and have individual headers for each page style.

We should be able to do this with a template and defining all the page styles needed to hold the differing header/footer content.

Done from SB -> Styles -> Page panel, selecting a model style, and using the 'New from Selection' button action.

However, was testing in current master against 7.1.0 and noticed that for preparing a template the page header/footer tabs will not honor clearing the for the Left, Right or First page:

'Same content on left and right'

'Same content of first'

So an extra step of having to duplicate those coming from Standard template (and delete from template to avoid confusion).

Once the different page styles are created--one for each header/footer needed--they are added to the template using the Insert break... dialog from menu Insert -> More Breaks -> Manual break.

With each insert edit the header/footer the page style being defined. Use fixed text and fields as needed.

Save-as 'ODF Text Document Template (.ott)'

First, no problem with your English, we all here aren't native English speakers.

Second, we use headers on pages to have the same content on each page.
If you want have different headers for each page , then just set up page styles for every page in your document (I'm not sure why it can be need, but...)

So, -1 from me and => NAB

Also don't see an issue here. The header is attached to the page style and you are looking for Insert > More breaks > Manual break: Page break - and use different page styles (the page break is also indicated by a thin, dotted, blue line between the pages and clicking this line allows to edit the page break, which is attached to the last paragraph, check Text Flow: Breaks: With page style). Page styles can be modified in the stylist (F11) (the 4th item in the icons selection on top).
