There is no "New" button at this point.

Recording macro requires setting of:

Enablement: Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice -> Advanced > [x] Enable macro recording (may be limited)

Start Recording: Tools -> Macros -> Record Macros ...

None of the steps is mentioned in Steps to Reproduce. Did you do perform these steps?

I added step 2a to reproduce this bug.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Calc
2. Choose Tools > Macros > Organize Macros > Basic
2a. Click on "My Macros" or on "Standard" folder
3. Press New
4. Receive error dialog box "Basic syntax error. Expected: Sub"
Comment 4 jdols 2020-10-29 17:03:06 UTC
The enable macro recording checkbox is enabled. Also note extra steps (labelled 1a and 2a) added to steps to reproduce:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Calc
1a. Enablement: Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice -> Advanced > [x] Enable macro recording (may be limited)
2. Choose Tools > Macros > Organize Macros > Basic
2a. Click on "My Macros" or on "Standard" folder
3. Press New
4. Receive error dialog box "Basic syntax error. Expected: Sub"

Please try to reset your LibreOffice user profile (Can't repro - and the "Steps to Reproduce"-description in fact is not about macro recording but editing (new) macros through IDE)

No error in windows, LO 7.0.1, please test with newer version and reset the user profile (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile). Thank you
