Description byl sottile 2020-11-02 20:32:24 UTC
Description:
to delete contents of a cell:

Open Office : select cell .. hit BACKSPACE deletes the contents
Open Office : select cell .. hi DELETE and get a dialog box first..

Using Backspace is TWO LESS KeyStrokes.. it's very annoying.. please fix it..

thank you in advance.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. enter data in a cell
2. use backspace to clear contents (dialog box comes up.. 2 more steps)
3. use Delete key to delete contents.. (dialog box comes up... 2 more steps) it's why I don't use
delete key to clear contents.. the BACKSPACE no longer works as OPEN OFFICE..

Please fix..
thank you in advance.

Actual Results:
BACKPACE.. causes the DELETE Dialog to come up.. it should not... only when DELETE key pressed should the Delete Dialog come up.. NOT with BACKSPACE key..

This is how Open Office Does it.. please fix.. it is annoying the extra 2 keystrokes.. thank you.

Expected Results:
Hit BACKPACE on a selected cell SHOULD just clear contents.. (NO DIALOG)
hit DELETE on selected cell DOES clear contents after the Dialog comes up.. (2 extra steps).

B

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
See above

BACKSPACE on selected cell should just clear contents.. no dialog

I just now started using Libre Office Calc on an existing CAL sheet made by OpenOffice.

thank you.

Can not confirm. For Windows builds, edit focus onto cell a cell with content <Del> key has different function than <BkSpace> key.

<Del> will clear the content.

<BkSpace> opens the 'Delete Contents' dialog

For OP please post os/DE details and copy the Help -> About LibreOffice dialog.

Otherwise, WFM

Also, if you want the old OpenOffice.org era behavior (still used by Apache OpenOffice) we provide the Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice Calc -> Compatibility tab where the is a 'Key Bindings' list box. Select the "OpenOffice.org legacy" entry.
