Description klausg 2020-11-09 11:15:03 UTC
Description:
Libreoffice 7.0.3.1 Writer Win - error with copy & paste
When I do copy and paste repeatedly using cont.c and cont.v
and only when I keep and hold the control key pressed,
the string will be copied twice.
Maybe there is purpose with this behaviour, but I wonder.
I did only test in Writer

Steps to Reproduce:
1.type in these lines in writer:
123abc
123abd
123abe
123abf
123abg

2. we want to change the '123' prefix against '456'
3. mark '123' from the first line and overtype it with '456'
4. press contr.C (to copy) and release the key again
5. mark '123' in the 2nd line, and press cont.V, keep the cont key pressed
6. you will get '456abd'
7. mark 123 in the 3rd line (cont is still pressed) and press the 'v' key
8. you will get '456456abe'
9. keeping the control key pressed, will douplicate the prefix
10. also when doing copy of text blocks, when holding the control key presses, will duplicate the block inserts; this copy of blocks, I do not protocol.
... not sure, whether this is all a feature or a bug.

4.press the control key and keep it pressed all the time

Actual Results:
456abc
456abd
456456abe
456456abf

Expected Results:
456abc
456abd
456abe
456abf

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
doing just a normal copy & past, even if the contol key is kept pressed for all repeated copy actions

I reproduce and this is indeed unexpected. I wonder, if this is somehow related to the block selection functionality that pressing down on Ctrl key activates.

Already seen in 3.5.0

I think the Ctrl key handling in LO+KDE is to blame.

Press Ctrl+S and you will see 2 save dialogs, to save twice

As a workaround, Shift+Insert pastes only once (but you need to get used to).

IMHO: this bug may be at the root of many LO+KDE misbehavior, where for example Ctrl+Z will undo 2 commands instead of 1 and can confuse user.

Nope, reported against Windows and confirmed with gen backend.

Dear klausg,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword
