Description Jakob 2020-11-10 19:32:48 UTC
Description:
I would like to ask you to make it possible to keep the aspect ratio of a background-picture just like with "normal" pictures and graphics. This was very useful when working with pictures or graphics, which don't have the same aspect ratio as the page/slide.
I would classify this setting here: right-click on the background-picture and choose properties(page setup)/background/picture/options.

Actual Results:
only style, size (width and height), scaling, position

Expected Results:
additionally keep aspect ratio

Reproducible: Always

The fill style is supposed to be done via Page > Page Properties: Background. Unfortunately, this dialog has some shortcomings on bitmaps, see bug 135832 and bug 106858.

I wonder if the command for "Set Background Image..." shouldn't open the area dialog rather than a file dialog which requires obviously another dialog for the aspect ratio. If accepted and done the solution would be to fix bugs on the area fill dialog.

No further opinion, let's have a tentative patch for this.
