When attempting to send a spreadsheet by email, the spreadsheet is not attached automatically to the email. The email client (Thunderbird in this case) opens successfully, but the attachment is not included and has to be attached manually. This is the case for File -> Send -> Send Document by Email and also for File -> Send -> Send as Microsoft Excel. It used to work in LibreOffice 6 (Ubuntu 20.10 - but in 20.04 using the Snap version)
No repro on: Version: 7.0.3.1, Build ID: d7547858d014d4cf69878db179d326fc3483e082 CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.3; UI render: default; VCL: kf5 Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US, Calc: threaded (using openSUSE Leap 15.2 / Thunderbird 78.4.3 / native TDF packages of LibreOffice)

Attachment works from the file explorer (Nautilus, I think. The default Ubuntu file explorer, anyway).
Thank you for reporting the bug. I can not reproduce the bug in, Version: 7.2.0.0.alpha0+ (x64) Build ID: 761a672d62df1891b9f4f367a499b220ab2b33fa CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 6.3 Build 9600; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US Calc: CL Version: 7.0.3.1 (x64) Build ID: d7547858d014d4cf69878db179d326fc3483e082 CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 6.3 Build 9600; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US Calc: CL
I don't know if this helps. I started OO from the command line, opened a document (a spreadsheet, as it happens) and then tried to send it via email. The following is the console output: >>> peter@peter-HP-Pavilion-15-Notebook-PC:~$ soffice [calBackendLoader] Using Thunderbird's libical backend console.debug: "Successfully loaded OpenPGP library librnp.so from /usr/lib/thunderbird/librnp.so" JavaScript error: resource://gre/modules/ActorManagerChild.jsm, line 297: TypeError: singletons is null Extension error: Error while loading 'jar:file:///usr/lib/thunderbird/omni.ja!/chrome/messenger/search-extensions/twitter/manifest.json' (NS_ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND) resource://gre/modules/Extension.jsm:570 :: readJSON/</<@resource://gre/modules/Extension.jsm:570:20 onStopRequest@resource://gre/modules/NetUtil.jsm:128:18 Extension error: Error while loading 'jar:file:///usr/lib/thunderbird/extensions/messagingmenu@mozilla.com.xpi!/manifest.json' (NS_ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND) resource://gre/modules/Extension.jsm:570 :: readJSON/</<@resource://gre/modules/Extension.jsm:570:20 onStopRequest@resource://gre/modules/NetUtil.jsm:128:18 console.debug: "RNPLib.createInputFromPath failed for /home/peter/.thunderbird/xl2o7cbq.default/pubring.gpg - Unix error 2 during operation open on file /home/peter/.thunderbird/xl2o7cbq.default/pubring.gpg (No existe el archivo o el directorio)" console.debug: "RNPLib.createInputFromPath failed for /home/peter/.thunderbird/xl2o7cbq.default/secring.gpg - Unix error 2 during operation open on file /home/peter/.thunderbird/xl2o7cbq.default/secring.gpg (No existe el archivo o el directorio)" console.debug: "public keys: 0, secret keys: 0" console.debug: "Successfully loaded optional OpenPGP library libgpgme.so.11 from system's standard library locations" console.debug: "gpgme version: 1.14.0-unknown" <<< So, obviously, it looks as though there are some files missing. I can't imagine why this should be on a straightforward install of OO from Ubuntu packages (the recent upgrade from 20.04 to 20.10 could have something to do with it?? And, of course, I have no idea what to do about it.
Please copy and paste here the information in Menu/Help/About LibreOffice.

Almost the same problem here. OpenSuSE Linux 15.3 + KDE Plasma Thunderbird 102.2.2 TDF LO 7.4.1
Confirmed for LibreOffice 7.2 and Version: 7.5.3.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 67bf5ab3e8553b11738d1302ab7051a12dd8b40d CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: nl-NL (nl_NL.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded Works for Writer as well. Open an existing document or enter some text in an unsaved blank document; select File - Send etc, Thunderbird opens with the file name as subject, but no attachment is included. In OpenOffice 4.1 for Ubuntu, enter some text in a blank, unsaved document and select File - Send etc, Thunderbird will open with a tmp file as attachment.
I cannot reproduce it. Version: 7.4.7.2 / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 40(Build:2) CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 6.1; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: fr-FR (fr_FR.UTF-8); UI: fr-FR Debian package version: 4:7.4.7-1 Calc: threaded
