Created attachment 167255 [details] Example file from Writer When a file is drag n dropped from the Windows Explorer to a Writer document, the resulting OLE object displays an icon representing the files type plus its file name. If the same file is inserted from the OLE dialog, there is no file name only icon in the resulting object. This is inconsistent and makes it difficult to differentiate similar file typed objects. Steps to reproduce: 1. Drag and drop a docx file into a new Writer document 2. Go to Insert – Object – OLE Object, select Create from File 3. Select the same file and tick the Show as Icon box 4. Compare the two objects Actual results: Object made in the dialog has no file name displayed. Also it has a different icon. Expected results: The object made in the dialog should look exactly like the drag n dropped one. Dear NISZ LibreOffice Team, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone! Warm Regards, QA Team MassPing-UntouchedBug
Tested again with Version: 7.4.3.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 1048a8393ae2eeec98dff31b5c133c5f1d08b890 CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: default; VCL: win Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: de-DE Calc: threaded and with drag and drop it doesn't insert an icon but an OLE-object with content of the original file. So you have more or lesse the same result as Insert -> OLE-Object -> Create from file (without active checkboxes) Don't know, if this change in behaviour is intended or not. Help page doesn't give information about inserting OLE-Object by drag and drop (perhaps useful to add this information). I add design-team for a check.
DnD creates a section never an icon. Could you please elaborate on the workflow?
No response, resolving ID.
