Thank you for reporting the bug. it seems you're using an old version of LibreOffice. Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version.

Would it be possible you attach a screencast? I mean, what's "User-layout ribbon"? "Press Export "pdf", so you don't use PDF icon since it's hidden then you use File menu but then what Export as/Export as PDF, Export As/Export directly as Pdf ? In both cases, it opens a dialog box and you can't "repeat 3" without closing dialog box or closing dialog box is implicit? Anyway, I tried both with gen rendering on master sources updated today, I don't reproduce any hang. Now it's perhaps a Windows only bug. Created attachment 172579 [details] bug persists with current version Version: 7.1.3.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 47f78053abe362b9384784d31a6e56f8511eb1c1 CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19042; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: en-US (de_DE); UI: de-DE Calc: threaded
How do you obtain floating window (which can be seen in your screenshot in unresponsive case)? I mean, with a brand new LO profile, there's no floating window.
If you resize the window to be small enough the space is not enough to contain all elements ... It's your standard feature to press the double arrows button ">>" ...

I don't understand how to reproduce this. There's no "user layout" I got in menu View, "User interface..." and inside: - standard toolbar - tabbed - single toolbar ... no "ribbon". Can't help here=>uncc myself
I don't reproduce the crash but I can hang LibreOffice with 7.1.4 on Windows 10: Version: 7.1.4.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: a529a4fab45b75fefc5b6226684193eb000654f6 CPU threads: 2; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19041; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: zh-CN (zh_CN); UI: en-US Calc: threaded Steps I used: 1. Fresh profile, create an empty new document in Writer. 2. Enable Tabbed interface: menu View > User Interface, choose "Tabbed", click "Apply to All" button, then "Close" button. 3. Switch to "File" tab, resize application window to be narrow enough that the Export section are not shown on tab bar anymore. 4. Click the ">>" button on tab bar, then click the "PDF" button in pop-up toolbar. 5. LibreOffice hangs and doesn't respond to keyboard or mouse, has to be forced to exit. @marc: if my steps are different from yours, please elaborate. It's not 100% reproducible though, sometimes the file chooser pops up and I can export as PDF normally.
@Ming Hua: my steps are very much the same. Thanks. (In reply to Ming Hua from comment #10) > I don't reproduce the crash but I can hang LibreOffice with 7.1.4 on What do you mean with crash? For me libre writer is unresponsive after pressing the button export "pdf" - or in your words it hangs. I can reproduce the hang in 9 out of 10 times.

okay. my bad.
(In reply to marc from comment #13) > okay. my bad. But the summary was written by you. So did you ever have LibreOffice crash with these steps, or does it only hang/freeze?
No crashes. Modified the subject
