Description Telesto 2020-12-11 22:46:58 UTC
Description:
UI: Save shape inside right click context menu

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Draw
2. Insert a shape
3. Right click it -> No save function

Actual Results:
No save function in the right click context menu

Expected Results:
Expected is to strong.. but save (which actually would be export) would make sense in some way. It would be similar to 'save' for images. And people do export individual shapes I noticed.. But no clue about how many people there are doing this..

For the record, personally my 2 cents

Reproducible: Always

This is a pretty typical work flow. Think of working on a draw canvas that is way oversize. You can reduce the drawing/canvas size to fit, or you can select multiple draw shapes and then save-as/export and use the 'Selection' check box.

Not sure though that a Save for a single draw shape would be especially useful. If on the other hand it could *also* respond to a set of selected shapes that would be a nice UNO control addition for context menu use.

+1

Yes, SAVE should also be present for CTRL+SELECTED (and maybe even for grouped stuff)

Save/Export in the context menu? Never seen this in other applications and it would be quite unclear whether it affects the current selection, the page, or the whole document. I tend to disagree.

Obvious the selected items would be export, with selection present.. Would not be different from File -> export with 'selection' checked.
Except it would be obviously faster :P

Right click context menu on (empty) page should export the full page..

Adding mwtjunkmail to the CC list, would see him as user of this function

In Draw, I usually export an entire page. A nice-to-have would be a saving from a context menu when right-clicking on a particular slide, but that's not the same as what's being suggested here.

Looks like this idea got some agreement. The new "Export Selection" command should call the export dialog (as Export does right now) but with "[ ] Selection" enabled.
