Description James Buton 2020-12-28 11:40:31 UTC
Description:
When using LibreOffice 7.1.0.1 Calc, using a regular spread-sheet, copying text from one cell and pasting it into another forces Calc, and LibreOffice, to shutdown. Upon restart the sheet you were working on needs to be recovered. Once recovered the original copy & past text has gone. When retrying the same procedure it always results in the same shut down behaviour.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a Calc spread-sheet that already has data in it
2. Copy from one cell
3. Paste that data into another and watch as LibreOffice shuts down
4. LO will restart and attempt to recover the file. It will but with the edit that broke it not there.

Actual Results:
1. Open a Calc spread-sheet that already has data in it
2. Copy from one cell
3. Paste that data into another and watch as LibreOffice shuts down
4. LO will restart and attempt to recover the file. It will but with the edit that broke it not there.

Expected Results:
LibreOffice will shut down entirely. When it restarts you'll see a file recovery screen which will recover the file 100% of the time. However, the data that you copied and pasted into that new cell will always be absent.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
The software should have allowed a copy & paste without shutting down.

Probably RC1 needed... very likely bug 139074
Comment 3 m_a_riosv 2020-12-28 12:46:38 UTC
And neither,

#comment2.
No sure the same, because with this version I can reproduce 139074.
Comment 4 James Buton 2020-12-28 14:48:59 UTC
Thank you for this. This is v7.1.01 RC1

It's very reproduceable on all my machines with this version installed.

It will reliably shut down LibreOffice in total (not just Calc). Can I make a screen cap or something to show you?

Please also paste the detail version information of your LibreOffice, like in comment 1 and 3.

It's in the Help > About LibreOffice dialog, there is a button after the "Version Information" label, which copies everything into clipboard, and you can then paste into the web browser.

Maybe it's to do with this version of LibreOffice on this version of Windows 10 20H2? No once who has the same OS has been able to replicate. However, the bug is the same now on 4 machines that are using this release on this OS.
Comment 10 kabilo 2020-12-31 18:38:11 UTC
I confirm when I paste the copied value or formula into the formula bar.

That would be bug 139074, pasting into the Formula bar rather than into a selected cell.

But, like others I can not confirm crash with STR here on Windows 10 20H2 (19042) build

That also would be bug 139074 pasting into the Formula bar rather than into a selected cell, which has now been corrected.

This issue of crash on paste into a Calc cell has not been confirmed.

OK. Thank you for the fix.
