A. Spelling dialog 1. F7 (or Tools > Spelling) (to open Spelling dialog) 2. Options... button (to open Options for Spelling) B. Tools - Options - Language Settings - Writing Aids - User-defined Dictionaries Same points for both dialogs. 1. Several of the dictionaries shown under "User-defined Dictionaries" are actually "shared" dictionaries -- and therefore cannot be edited. 2. Would be appropriate to have a clear distinction in the UI between actual "user-defined" (which can be edited) and "shared" (internal) dictionaries (which cannot be edited). 3. Neutral about a specific UI proposal UI for doing this. Here are a few speculations. could be separate scrollwindows for "user" and "shared" or keep same window, but * change heading to "Dictionaries" * make headings in scrollwindow for "user" and "internal" with separator

My guess, it's not a real dictionary but a place for user-defined words with some preinstalled content, for example in "Technical". See also bug 143308 "refine custom dictionary installation", bug 143290 "no way to deselect 'standard.dic' permanent", and the duplicate bug 68576 "Pre-installed User-defined Dictionaries Can be neither Modified nor Deleted". When I build from master with --without-myspell-dicts and --with-lang=de es, I get some Hungarian and Slovenian dictionaries too. Could imagine Standard alone in the list (containing the technical terms). > 2. The "user-defined dictionaries" meaning installed per extension are listed in this dialog and per tools > options > language settings > writing aids. It's not listed among the user-defined dictionaries. Miklos, Mike: What do you think?
Some kind of indicator for read-only dictionaries (and content in general) would be nice. Either just as amended string like <Dictionary> (read-only) or drawn italic or per icon.

Issue remains in: Version: 7.6.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: d466df5bc220eb80b8a51ff64507de881b938ed3 CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19044; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: da-DK (da_DK); UI: en-US Calc: CL threaded In particular, en-GB, en-US, and technical are all shown as User-defined dictionaries, with an active "Edit" button (but they cannot be edited in the dialog). These dictionaries correspond to: share/wordbook/en-GB.dic share/wordbook/en-US.dic share/wordbook/technical.dic One "solution" would be to show a "View" button instead of "Edit" when selecting one of these three dictionaries. (and just ignore that they are not user-defined). Another "solution" would be to move these three dictionaries to a new window "Shared [or 'system'] dictionaries" (with only one button "View" or "Review") (but might not be enough room in the dialog window) Resetting Status to NeedInfo from @miklos @mike (see comment 1)
