Description yousifjkadom 2021-01-30 14:40:08 UTC
Hi.

To reproduce this bug:

1) launch LO writer,

2) go to "format" | columns | & set columns at 2

3) click "Ok"

4) you will see typing pointer within column facing your right hand, though language UI & locale are set to English. If you type then column on your right side will full 1st before you can type within column on your left side.

5) save & exit,

6) now re-open document,

7) go again to "format" | columns | & change "Text direction" from "Superordinate settings" into "Left to right",

8) save & exit.

9) re-open document & you will see contents reverted: what were within column on your right side will be within column on your left side !

10) go again to "format" | columns | & you will see "Text direction" re-set on "Superordinate settings" !

I can't confirm the bug, because I don't have text direction option in columns dialog in

Version: 7.1.0.3 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: f6099ecf3d29644b5008cc8f48f42f4a40986e4c
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19042; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-GB
Calc: CL

So could you please retest with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version. Change to RESOLVED WORKSFORME, if the problem went away.

Hi. I test it on my 7.1.0.3 flatpak LO, & still it is existing without any improvement !

Kindly see the following data:

Version: 7.1.0.3 / LibreOffice Community
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.10; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: ar-SA (en_US.utf8); UI: en-US
Flatpak
Calc: threaded

The above data from "About" from "Help" after launching LO writer by click it's launching icon. I removed "Build ID" SINCE I do not know if it is confidential data or not.

I attached 2 screenshots, also.

I still miss the option "Text direction". "This feature is only available if complex text layout support is enabled." [1]. I have enabled CTL in Tools => Options => Language Settings => Languages => Default languages for document
