The caption frame object like any other frame you insert from Insert - Frame is converted to a shape object on DOCX export. That has slightly different properties and behaviors compared to a frame object, the docx-textbox meta bug is about those.

So should this be kept open or not?
Comment 5 QA Administrators 2022-07-27 03:38:16 UTC Comment hidden (obsolete)

(In reply to Buovjaga from comment #4)
> So should this be kept open or not?

Option A: Remove TextBox should be hidden if this being a converted object in case of DOCX (if possible)
Option B: Remove Textbox should delete everything, selecting the frame and clicking 'Delete textbox' will delete the image inside the textbox
Option C: B + rename Remove Textbox to Remove frame (which would match the navigator label) but technically it's still a drawing object

There are more problems:
1. The import should have created a frame, not a custom shape with textbox.
2. In generally, 'Remove textbox' should not kill its content, but give an option to move the content to the shape. Currently you first need to copy the content, remove the textbox and then insert the content again.
3. In case the shape is an unrotated custom shape 'rectangle' (as it is in this case) there should be an option 'convert to frame'.

From my point of view, the 'Textbox' feature in Writer is half-baked.

There are all kinds of bug reports showing that a draw-based solution to frame imports has problems. And there are all kinds of bug reports that have been fixed by doing it this way.

This report about "the menus are different after saving to DOCX format" is INVALID.

Dear Telesto,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword
