Description Russ Herald 2021-02-13 13:16:55 UTC
Description:
After installing 7.1, I noticed that documents which I would open on my macbook pro (2015) would not scale when moved to an external monitor. On the external monitor, the document becomes smaller (takes up about a quarter of the real estate of the window for Libre Office), and I cannot alter that. Afterward, documents continue to open in that fashion, regardless of where I open them.
If I make the external monitor my primary monitor, this seems to solve the problem, but this is not desirable for me.
A clean reinstall of 7.1 (first removing all references to the program) resulted in the same problem.
With the previous version of Libre Office (7.0.4) I did not have this problem. I have reïnstalled that version, and it works fine in the above scenario.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Join macbook pro to external monitor (Samsung T35F) via HDMI
2.Start Writer and open/create new document on macbook screen
3.Move document to eternal monitor

Actual Results:
Document becomes smaller, (occupies much less real estate in the Writer window), and cannot be resized. All document functions of the program seem to work. But zooming, for example, does not change the real estate the document uses within the video for Writer.

Expected Results:
The document should have continued to fill the window for Writer. No other software exhibits the behavior described above (also not other word processing programs).

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
On Libre Office 7.0.4 this problem does not occur. I have reinstalled that version on my macbook.

I reopend https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138122#c193 but it was brought to my attention that it wasn't correct. This bug was originally marked as duplicate of #138122 but in 7.3 the scaling is not correct again (though, this time the whole UI is out of proportion).

Original comment:
> 7.3.0 seems to reintroduce the issue (more #140390 or #140237 but those were marked as duplicates of this one).
>
> Macbook Pro M1 (Silicon), macOS Monterey 12.1. External (27" WQHD).
>
> LO upon starting opens on main display (external display configured as such) and everything is scaled 2x (or only 1/4 of the window is visible). If I open any document it keeps this scale. Moving window to another display doesn't change scaling (see screenshots).
>
> But! If I close LO window (cmd+w) and re-open LO window (on macOS you can close all application windows but keep application running) from the dock then it opens on the MBP display and it's scaled properly. If I then move the window to the external display the scale is maintain correctly.

This bugreport originally talks about 7.1, so it cannot possibly be the same as the 7.3 Skia issue. If your problem is only with 7.3 and only shows when using Skia, then please file a new bugreport specifically about that problem.
Comment 6 Russ Herald 2022-02-04 16:00:43 UTC
I have installed 7.3 on the macbook on which I first reported the issue. I have not as yet had this specific problem arise again.
Comment 7 Timur 2022-06-01 08:42:58 UTC
I close per reporter's comment.
In case you have this or other issue, please see other bugs in Multimonitor.
