Description Rahman 2021-02-14 12:10:09 UTC
Description:
Hello. On my laptop, I have been using the "OpenOffice" and "LibreOffice Writer" applications for years. Thank you for all the teams who allow us to use this software. But every now and then I see weird behavior in these apps. In the blink of an eye, and at the slightest touch of the keyboard, or the touch-pad, the text changes suddenly. To find out what happened, I click on the "CANCEL" button for the last operation. And I see that: one or more lines of text are selected and deleted! As if this is done by an Automatic Macro. This is repeated several times a day. If you are not careful, the text will lose several lines without noticing this deletion. It seems like sabotage. Why this weird behavior? Where is he from ? I don't understand. I don't want to accuse anyone without evidence. I refuse to buy into the conspiracy theory. But frankly, sometimes I wonder: is it not a secret or invisible competition between Microsoft Windows programs and Microsoft Office on one side, and on the other side The Document Foundation, OpenOffice, and LibreOffice? Is it because I am an opponent in my country? I do not know. Can you please fix this problem?
Don't forget to check if this weird behavior is only happening in certain countries.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open OpenOffice Writer, or LibreOffice Writer.
2. Work a long text.
3. Be careful if there is a sudden change in the text.
4. If you doubt that a sudden change in the text has occurred, click on the "undo last operation" button, to go back, and see what happened.
5. Remember that this does not necessarily happen in all countries of the world.

Actual Results:
At unexpected times, and at the slightest touch of the keyboard, or the touchpad, the equivalent of one or more lines of text suddenly disappear.

Expected Results:
Do not delete words, or lines, if the LibreOffice user does not command them.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Rule of thumb is search before reporting. Looks duplicate.

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 119745 ***

M. Timur have commented : "The bug 140407 have been resolved, because it has been marked as a duplicate of bug 119745". It is not true. The content of Bug 140407 is radically different from the content of Bug 119745. The problem in bug 140407 is that one or more lines suddenly disappear, while the problem in bug 119745 is a matter of speed and extent of scrolling. So the bug 140407 is not yet resolved. Thank you very much.

Bug report must have precise reproducible steps, better with sample document.
As long as you say "reproducible: sometimes" it means you didn't come to steps.
I set Needinfo for reproducible steps.
Only when your have then, please set Unconfirmed.
Otherwise, this report has no value and may be closed.

I'm sorry, I was wrong. The problem described in bug 140407 is not reproducible. However, it does happen suddenly, and I don't understand why or when it happens.
