Description: Simply starting libreoffice7.1 --impress causes a crash. May be due to profile and I will test that. However, profile works just fine with LibO 7.0 and the fact that the crash is limited to impress is strange. Another strange thing is how the issue occurred. Initially LibO 7.1.1.1 was starting just fine with impress, but pressing the button on the right panel to visualize the master pages was causing it to crash. I once used LibO 7.0 to perform the master page operation that I could not perform with LibO 7.1 because of that issue and after that LibO 7.1.1.1 cannot start anymore in impress without crashing. This is just a quick initial reporting of the issue. It will probably appear rather incomplete and I'll try to add information as soon as I can make more tests. For the time being it might be useful in case others encounter a similar issue. Steps to Reproduce: run libreoffice7.1 --impress Actual Results: LibO crashes Expected Results: LibO does not crash Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: [Information automatically included from LibreOffice] Locale: en-US Module: TextDocument [Information guessed from browser] OS: Linux (All) OS is 64bit: yes
Thank you for reporting the bug. To be certain the reported issue is not related to corruption in the user profile, could you please reset your Libreoffice profile ( https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile ) and re-test? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the issue is still present
Indeed, I'll try making more tests (including different VCLs) asap. For the time being I'll be for a few hours at a meeting! In the meantime, I can say that after whatever issue has happened also LibO 7.1.0.3 that I was using until a few days ago also is also crashing.
Made some tests. Crash is caused by the presence of an `.stw` file in the `template` directory in the profile. If I remove it, impress in LibO 7.1 does not crash on startup. This is extra weird, because: 1. I am pretty sure that the stw file was there even before I started experiencing the crash. 2. Before experiencing the crash I had not explicitly touched that file nor anything in the template directory. 3. The only thing I did was alternating LibO 7.0 and LibO 7.1 due to a (probably unrelated) crash that I had with LibO 7.1 with a set of slides when trying to apply a master page to a slide. Yet I am sure that the `.stw` file in the templates dir is troublesome because when I experienced the startup crash, I saved the profile and I started with a new one and the issue reappeared when copying the templates dir from the old profile to the new one. Furthermore after removal of the .stw file also the saved profile works without any issue.
