Description: Empty page because of anchoring attaching itself at different spot Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open the attached file 2. Select top image (china town) 3. Press arrow down once Actual Results: Everything shifts down.. so last paragraph moves to next page (create a blank page) Expected Results: I see an anchor as an anchor to certain location, without causing layout change in this way Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Found in Version: 7.2.0.0.alpha0+ (x64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 722ec600e85cca2e94e82e69f8d13773061172b9 CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 6.3 Build 9600; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: nl-NL (nl_NL); UI: nl-NL Calc: CL and in LibreOffice 3.5.7.2 Build ID: 3215f89-f603614-ab984f2-7348103-1225a5b

@Dieter I assume/speculate this being off, because lacking explanation why this makes sense. It has something to do with image height & paragraph distribution. Set the image height (2) to 7 cm and everything is fine. However I find kind of 'arbitrary to get' such big effect because of something so small
I confirm the described behaviour, but I don't know, if this is a bug. It depends on DF of paragraphs. If you remove all DF, the problem doesn't appear. Tested with Version: 7.1.1.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: fe0b08f4af1bacafe4c7ecc87ce55bb426164676 CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19042; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-GB Calc: CL

@Justin As one of my favorite developers for asking. A case which kind of out your area (but related). starting point: I kind of dislike massive layout shifting (as a user experience and performance related) However the example here is complicated. The image position/ size is not in line with paragraphs. So somewhat in the middle of paragraphs. This causes wrap to do all sorts of spacing things. To get text around the image (not literally, depending on type of wrap, but all wraps show this issue in one way or another). The effect is caused by an combination of font size / image position/ or image size interacting. The combined effect having pretty heavy influence on layout and distribution of text and images around pages. The outcome feels kind of 'random' to me. However no clue what the alternative/solution could/should be. Anchor as character has the advantage that the image equals a character. So this doesn't happen (I think). I could think of less free form (more 'snapping to more 'ideal positions' instead of free float). To avoid all the drifting of text and such (by default) Kind of what Draw does, I think? (press shift makes it possible to to exact). But well not sure if (a) this seen as problem (b) which alternatives there are (c) and what the advantages/objections of the alternatives are. Note: someone will be annoyed by any change, I guess. Maybe the current approaching being the 'optimum' already; I'm reluctant/skeptical, but it's surely possible.

Press arrow right I reproduce the appearance of the empty page. The previous comment seems to have the exact same file. Could you please try to reproduce it with a master build from http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/ ? You can install it alongside the standard version. I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the master build

Press arrow right I do reproduce this, and feels off.. B moves down for some reason? But not totally getting why.. Image wrap? But again why? Version: 7.2.0.0.alpha0+ (x64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: f616d96bd8ce8986e4cc204953db0467e6060b5c CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 6.3 Build 9600; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: nl-NL (nl_NL); UI: en-US Calc: CL
I confirm it with Version: 7.3.4.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 728fec16bd5f605073805c3c9e7c4212a0120dc5 CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19044; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-GB Calc: CL If you change wrap from parallel to optimal, bug doesn't happen So let's set status to NEW Further observations: 1. If you extend image in foreground to the right, you can move image behind to the right without layout change 2. If you shrink width of the foreground image, bug also appears
Dear Telesto, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!
