Description Sandro Santilli 2021-03-11 09:47:23 UTC
I'm using LibreOffice 7.0.3.1 00(Build:1) on a Lubuntu-20.10 system and localc is giving me big troubles with screen drawing. Doing some simple operations like closing a message or trying to edit a comment results in the window NOT being refreshed anymore rendering the tool unusable.

Here's a screenshot: http://strk.kbt.io/tmp/libreoffice-7.0.3.1-on-lubuntu-20.10-screen.jpg

Operations that trigger the problem found so far:

  - Closing the "Automatic update of external links has been disabled" message using the 'x' icon
  - Clicking on 'Allow updating' button from the "Automatic update of external links has been disabled" message
  - Right-clicking on a cell with a comment and picking "Edit comment"

I also asked a question about this on https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/297741/does-anyone-have-localc-issues-with-screen-draw/

Can you download LibreOffice from https://libreoffice.org/download and try it?

Can you write here info from LO's Help>About dialog?

Is there an apt repository I can use to install libreoffice rather than fetching a one-time .deb file?
Comment 4 Sandro Santilli 2021-03-11 13:41:06 UTC
For the record: "Insert Comment" also triggers the problem (still on 7.0.3.1).
No Tool-Options-View-HardwareAcceleration of Use Antialiasing fixes it.

Instead, toggling window maximization (back and forth) seems to fix the problem and stop triggering it on next time the triggering operations are attempted !

The X server I'm using is Xorg 2:1.20.9-2ubuntu1.1

We want you check your problem in official build from TDF, but not in build from any PPA, because any PPA isn't an official sourse

I still have the problem. The Help->About info:

Version: 7.0.6.2
Build ID: 00(Build:2)
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.11; UI render: default; VCL: qt5+cairo
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Ubuntu package version: 1:7.0.6-0ubuntu0.20.10.1
Calc: threaded

I did not yet have a chance to try a new version, the above is what's packaged in Ubuntu 20.10 (Groovy)
Comment 10 Roman Kuznetsov 2022-10-31 18:23:38 UTC
Sandro, did you update your LibreOffice to more modern version?
Anyway, if you use VCL: qt5 you will see the problem I think, because it's still unstable. I would advice you change it to vcl:kf5
Comment 11 Sandro Santilli 2022-11-02 10:31:19 UTC
I cannot reproduce anymore with

Version: 7.3.6.2 / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 30(Build:2)
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 6.0; UI render: default; VCL: x11
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Ubuntu package version: 1:7.3.6-0ubuntu0.22.04.2
Calc: threaded
