On macOS text is displayed retina sharp due to tdf#138122. Images are still rendered using single precision.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open LO and look at Startcenter's main display without document thumbnails
2. Open e.g. a Writer document with bitmap images emdedded
Images are displayed with single precision causing slight blur due to apples upscaling algorithm
Images that are available in double precision (retina quality) during rendering are displayed in retina quality.
User Profile Reset: No
Implementation earliest after tdf#141063 has been fixed

Hi Thorsten. I don't know, if this issue relates to this bug, but I also experience printing problems in Writer. Exporting documents with graphics to a PDF and printing from there brings sharp results, but printing from LO is pixelated.

Unfortunately I am not able to reproduce. I used LO 7.1.2 for testing. It would be very nice to get a sample document with this issue.

I tried to reproduce it in a seperate file and first it didn't happen again. So I unarchived the old file and I could see, what was the problem. The problem occurs, when the image is included as a pdf. That happend, because I made a copy + paste from my vector application. LibreOffice will then create a pdf and a png file in the Pictures folder, but it will print the png file, that has a worse resolution. To see what I mean I add a test file.

Issue does not seem to be related to this issue. Printing results are the same with and without retina graphics enabled.

FWIW: the icon quality is really really bad on macOS, however the icon not that crisp on Windows either with a 'regular' low res 23inch 1080x1920. especially noticeable with extra large icons.
So suspect multiple problems..
