Word file created by LibreOffice shown in Word 2003

May be Microsoft Word 2019 is not compatible to one of its own predecessors. Word 2003 shows the text and highlighting - see the attachment.

(This is not a statement, that the export is correct, but a statement that it is not necessarily a bug of LibreOffice)

I can confirm, that also MS Word 2010 shows the text correctly. But I think it is something with LO export, because I noticed this behavior only few hours ago when I posted another Bug 141228 - for me this seems to have some connection with the wrong export of highlight text, because I use LO and MS beside for years and never noticed such a behavior.

If it would be a bug between MS 2003/2010 and 2019, then the same text created in MS Word 2003/2010 and opened in 2019 should bring the same result, which does not happened. Between MS 2010 and MS 2019 using this kind of text brings no difference. Therefor I expect it is a LO bug.

I guess we may put this to New with relation to bug 131304.
This is regardless of Options-Load/Save-MS-Char Highlighting.

removed DOCX-compatibilityMode-15: that only applies to DOCX files.

probably inherited from OOo. I tested bibisect-43all at LO 3.5 and got the same results. (using Word 2016 and Word 2013.)

It seems like only the last paragraph is lost. Adding another paragraph to the document shows the one with the highlighted text.

This looks like a Word bug. (I've recently notice other documents where Word drops the last line.) Starting with Word 2013, they made a LOT of compatibility changes, so likely they broke something in their reading of DOC files. (However, if I round-trip the file with Word 2003, then it all looks fine.)

I don't think that the highlighting has anything to do with this. If I clear all character formatting (and thus the highlighting), the same problem occurs.

When I export to DOCX format, it looks fine. I also didn't notice anything funny when browsing through the docx content, so I'm not sure what would be triggering Word to ignore the last paragraph. I couldn't reproduce with a new file.

I tested saved DOC with Free Office and it also opens OK.
So this looks like MSO bug.
There are other bugs closed like that, when same file is read differently with different MSO versions.
