Description Dr. Pam Halton 2021-03-26 14:25:06 UTC
Description:
If I L click on Edit, and then Find & Replace, it just goes to the next cell where it finds that text. That is not what I want it to do.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.L click on Edit, and dropdown in that menu
2.L click on Find & Replace
3.

Actual Results:
It goes to the next applicable cell in Calc.

Expected Results:
I want it to be able to go to the next instance of that text within that same cell that has a lot of text in it, and replace all the instances of that text, and not go to the next applicable cell until it's done replacing all the instances. When it finds no more instances of that, then it can try to go to the next applicable cell.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:

Slight edit to Expected Results:

I want LO Calc to be able to go FIND the next instance of that text within that same cell that has a lot of text in it, every time I L click FIND NEXT.

And I want LO Calc to be able to go REPLACE THAT NEXT INSTANCE of that text EACH time I L click REPLACE.

I want LO Calc to NOT go to the next applicable cell until I've had a chance to replace all the instances in that one cell I'm in. When it finds no more instances of that text in that cell, ONLY THEN do I want it to go to the next applicable cell where it finds the same text.

So for example, if I have a cell with a paragraph of text in it. And I tell Calc that I want to FIND NEXT comma, then I want LO Calc to FIND the NEXT comma within the same cell every time I L click FIND NEXT.

When I L click REPLACE I want it to REPLACE that comma with a semicolon.

I DON'T want it to move to the next applicable cell with a comma in it until there are no more commas in this cell.

If you select the cell, and mark on the S&R window 'current selection' only, all the occurrences in the cell are replaced, only in that cell.

Response to Comment 2

Thanks for the advice; however, it doesn't work in version 6.3.5.2 of LO. If I check the checkbox for Current Selection Only... With a comma in the Find box and a semicolon in the Replace box...

I can L click Find Next

I can L click Replace

I can L click Replace All

In each case, it highlights the semicolon in the Replace box in RED and it complains that the selection IS NOT FOUND.

And in each case, it also unchecks the Current Selection Only box so I have to keep checking it again, which seems like a bug.
