Description Volga 2021-04-03 11:30:18 UTC
Description:
I’ve discovered some files from the Wayback Machine, but I can’t open them with LO Writer.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download files from several links
   https://web.archive.org/web/19970211021342/http://www.mdc.com:80/version1/Graphics/press/96-188.doc
   https://web.archive.org/web/19970211021415/http://www.mdc.com:80/version1/Graphics/press/96-187.doc

Actual Results:
Writer does not load the content properly, but rather force the content to crammed too close together.

Expected Results:
Writer should render these documents properly.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Oh well, Bugzilla may have a problem to parse the third catalog link from the Wayback Machine, you need to visit here:

No repro 5.1, repro 5.3 and 7.2+. Windows only, not in Linux.
Seems that started in Lo 5.2, there may have been 2 changes, improper fix.

Opens for me
Version: 7.2.0.0.alpha0+ (x64) / LibreOffice Community

CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 6.3 Build 9600; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win

But well with font-substitution active. Not having Courier installed. So maybe a font issue?

Sorry, can't bibisect yet as I am waiting for new virtio Windows drivers per this bug: https://github.com/virtio-win/kvm-guest-drivers-windows/issues/550

I keep the repos in a shared folder on my Linux host.

No problem here on Windows, either. I'd also guess the problem could be related to font substitution.
Comment 16 Timur 2021-04-26 08:09:58 UTC
I think that empty profile is relevant for this being wrong and regression and not profile with font-substitution active (which is a workaround).

The file looks good now on LO 7.4 on a Windows 7 machine

Version: 7.4.0.3 (x86) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: f85e47c08ddd19c015c0114a68350214f7066f5a
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 6.1 Service Pack 1 Build 7601; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: zh-CN (zh_CN); UI: zh-CN
Calc: threaded

It would nice if anyone else can confirm from a different device.
Comment 18 Buovjaga 2022-09-06 06:15:28 UTC
They are indeed fine now on Windows, even in Safe Mode.
Comment 19 Timur 2022-09-06 13:24:16 UTC
I tested with 7.5+ in Win7 as NOK and in Win10 as OK.
I don't change the status, let it stay closed.
