Description goodguy00@zoho.com 2021-04-03 16:19:33 UTC
Description:
somehow, having to completely change the navigator for viewing a (mostly) short list of documents, which the master is mastering over and which also makes not very good use of the navigator pannel, i would put that in the standard navigator pane under a topic "master" or so at the same level like "frames" or "sections". this would also obsolete things like bug 140397.

Steps to Reproduce:
open navigator (F5)

Actual Results:
in master documents, you see only either the mastered documents OR all other navigation topics.

Expected Results:
it would make sense to combine the two and (if it's not a master but an ordinary document) also gray that topic out.

Reproducible: Always

If you open navigator and deselect toggle master view you see elements like "Heading", "Frames" and so on.
Does this solve your problem?

thank you Dieter, but it's not a problem. i only pointed out, it would probably save hassels for programmers (as we have seen) and users, if there would be only 1 navigator sheet instead of 2. it's an enhancement idea.

I understand the idea now. So let's see what design-team thinks about it.

Navigator in Master Documents (left) vs Normal (right)

You mean we should have all functions that offers the Navigator for master documents in the normal Navigator and disable those that not apply?
Comment 5 goodguy00@zoho.com 2021-07-03 22:06:31 UTC
was that a question to me?

"You mean we should have all functions that offers the Navigator for master documents in the normal Navigator and disable those that not apply?"

-> yes, exactly what i described.

Jim, what do you think about consolidation the Navigator in master view mode? Does it save hassles or introduce new. From UX POV consistency in the UI is desirable.
Comment 9 Roman Kuznetsov 2021-07-23 18:59:20 UTC
I disagree this suggestion

Looks like a project. It would involve adding another another line of tool buttons to the toolbox. Tool buttons could be hid and shown depending on the selected tree entry but I think we don't like doing that sort of thing.

I lean towards Roman's comment on this.
Comment 11 Heiko Tietze 2021-10-14 05:41:10 UTC
So let's abstain from this enhancement.
