Description Bob 2021-04-07 01:11:02 UTC
Description:
Recent rewrite of Libre "Writer" code for how images are wrapped inside bordering text in a document - has arbitrarily set the Anchor default to "as character." That deactivated all my prior-chosen wrap options pertaining to an existing image in a formerly nicely formatted document. My recent update of Libre Office brought me up to version 7.0.5.2 x64. I had to hunt around image Properties and found the anchor option had been changed (defaulted?) to "as character" instead of my own setting, "to page" or "to paragraph". I changed anchor back to "to page" and all the Wrap options became enabled again. Then I had to fuddle with setting wrap to my correct prior settings. I have a lot of existing files containing images that should be anchored to "Page" which'll have to be fixed if I dare to edit them. Or could you fix Writer to not mess with Anchor values already set. Many thanks.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Edit an existing .docx file with Libre Office Writer
2.Select and move around an image (that was anchored to Page) amongst some text.
3.Now check its properties to see if the Anchor option says "as character"

Actual Results:
An image that was previously anchored to "Page" is now anchored "as Character"

Expected Results:
Should have said Anchored "To Page"

Reproducible: Always

Would be useful if you search in existing bugs, there are many on image anchor.
Also, you need to attach sample document.

Concerning that .docx file that exhibited the Anchor error.... you asked for me to send it as an attachment, however in the process of problem determination I "fixed" it and any settings you may have wanted to view have long since been replaced. To re-create it in its erroneous state I would have to back-level my version of LibreOffice, and I don't think I'm able to spend the time. Many thanks for caring about our trials & tribulations. It seems there won't be further details on this, closing as RESOLVED INSUFFICIENTDATA.
