Description Vince 2021-04-07 16:13:12 UTC
Description:
when selecting a portion of the spreadsheet, then either select copy from the pop up menu or <ctrl><c> the application freezes, followed by a wait/abort pop up, selecting wait, only causes the pop up to return

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open blank Calc sheet
2. enter strings and numbers in cells from B2 : F7
3. select range B2 : F7
4. copy range (either with <ctrl><c> or with menu)
5. wait for pop up to abort, as it just freezes at this point

Actual Results:
Unable to copy data

Expected Results:
Ability to copy and paste

Reproducible: Always

Are you using SW from LibreOffice project or distribution's packages? Attach Help > About info.

installed using the standard fedora repos, OS is Fedora 33 with all the latest updates.

I have since done some more research and found

[vince@b ~]$ loginctl show-session 2 -p Type
Type=wayland

Then I tried
[vince@bari ~]$ waylandEnable=false soffice -calc
Warning: -calc is deprecated. Use --calc instead.

this allowed me to copy and paste the cells. So this looks like it may be a wayland issue, but I am not familiar with it.

I also noticed that the application loaded a lot quicker, not sure if that is a clue.

If you can confirm that it is a wayland issue, then please close this issue.

Also might be useful for others that have this issue is to edit the desktop file

[vince@b ~]$ grep ^Exec /usr/share/applications/libreoffice-calc.desktop
Exec=libreoffice --calc %U
Exec=waylandEnable=false libreoffice --calc
[vince@b ~]$

Although this is not recommended as it may either be lost when updated, or may not be updated by later releases, kind of a no win situation.

Please search for Wayland bugs, see bug 140404 and test daily master.
