Description Charlie Wine 2021-04-16 21:45:53 UTC
Description:
Please don't treat this post as something from a newbie... I probably was a computer professional before you were born. Thanks

Calc, running on windows. Open calc windows (some of the time) get relocated when the window manager returns from a screen saver or the window is returned from a minimized state.
Windows update 2021-04 and a few previous versions.
LibreOffice update 7.1.2.2 and one or two previous versions.
Two displays, one 3840x2160 and one 1920x1080

Steps to Reproduce:
1. One or more windows is/are open and located on the root window in a reasonable position, not partly off of the screen.
2. The windows window manager goes to a screen saver (display off) state.
3. The windows window manager leaves the screen saver state.

Actual Results:
Often the open calc window is displaced to the bottom of the screen or mostly off the screen to the lower right.
This problem has existed for a few updates of both windows and LibreOffice.

Expected Results:
The window(S) should always retain its/their position.

Reproducible: Sometimes

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
The window shape is preserved.
The information about the position is being mis-communicated between calc and the windows window manager.
The problem doesn't happen on every occasion but does happen several times a day; often enough to be annoying.
I don't know if the same problem exists for other LibreOffice programs.
The problem doesn't manifest itself for any other applications.
The two most common mis-positionings are: 1) The bottom of the window becomes the bottom of the screen, and 2) The upper left corner of the window seems to become the lower right corner of the root window minus the original displacement from the original root window upper left. e.g. If the window started at 100,200 it is moved to (3840-100),(2160-200).

Speculation about what is happening:
Calc window position is referenced to its root window. When coming out of screen saver state, windows tries to reference the calc window position to the other (smaller) root window dimensions. This results in part of the calc window being offscreen. The windows manager repositions the calc window to be fully onscreen.

First, thank you for honoring us mere mortals with your attention

Second, please write here info from LibreOffice's Help -> About dialog (you can use a Copy button there)
