Description GWW 2021-05-12 22:11:18 UTC
Description:
Attempting to print an envelope in vertical orientation results in an envelope printed horizontally (text is rotated 90° & is cut off at envelope edge).

LibreOffice 6.4.6002 works as expected. The preview in the print dialog shows the orientation that ends up being printed. In LO 6.4, it shows an envelope with vertical orientation; in 7.0 and 7.1, the preview shows an envelope with horizontal orientation. Left, right or center alignment does not seem to affect this issue.

Steps to Reproduce:
Prerequisite: a printer that takes envelopes short-edge first.

1. Start envelope wizard: Insert → Envelope
2. Fill out "Addressee" and "Sender" fields on "Envelope" tab.
3. Switching to the "Printer" tab, select a vertical orientation (aligned left, right or center, as appropriate to printer).
4. Set any other options on "Printer" tab appropriate for printer.
5. Click "New Document" button to close wizard and create new envelope document.
6. Feed envelope into printer.
7. Start printing: File → Print (or ⌘P, or click print button)
8. Note orientation in print dialog: it should be vertical (but, in tests, is horizontal).
9. Click "Print" button.

Actual Results:
Text is rotated 90° relative to normal orientation of envelope, so it's all printed near one edge. Due to envelope width, address is cut off.

Expected Results:
Text on envelope has standard orientation: sender in upper left corner, address in middle.

Reproducible: Always

You reported it very specific, envelope in Mac, but please see if duplicate of some more general bug like bug Bug 141017.

Writer 7 can print documents in landscape mode in general, so it's not an occurrence of that bug.

While creating a physical sample, I was able to determine the cause and resolve it. This time, while printing my printer reported:

> Data received from the PC/Mobile is:
> Letter
> The paper size in the tray is different.

In the "Size" tab of the LO 7 envelope wizard, the size format was "custom". After correcting this to "#10 Envelope", the document had the correct orientation (vertical) in both the preview and hardcopy. As such, I'm closing this report.
