I confirm the described behaviour with

Version: 7.1.4.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: a529a4fab45b75fefc5b6226684193eb000654f6
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19043; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-GB
Calc: CL

but I would treat it as enhancement and not as a bug and I'm not sure if it is possible or not

Bug 97801 is a about missing page numbers in xhtml export. I would expect consistency here: Either we have page numbers in both file-formats or in none of them. And additional question for me is: What do you expect for page numbers in cross references?

I think export must not change the document. If you don't want page numbers in the ToC remove it before exporting (the # under Entries > Structure).

My take: WF.

apart from the outcome, there may be some interaction with the EPUB export too, that interacts I think with HTML.
Comment 4 Heiko Tietze 2021-07-01 14:00:09 UTC
We discussed this topic in the design meeting. It's clearly a bug since a) Export to does not export the page number (but confirming for Save As) and b) Epub omits the full ToC. As for bug 97801: WF.

As a side-note: Writer should not be used as an HTML editor.
Comment 5 Chris Y. 2021-07-01 14:29:57 UTC
Agreed, this was not a very good use of my time but as I was making a web version of a PDF document that I didn't have the source file for, this seemed like the easiest approach at the time. In hindsight, I shouldn't be making a web version of a city document when nobody asked for it and the public comment period was only a week away. If I were making a web document from scratch I would definitely stick to Markdown conversion.

Still present in

Version: 7.6.0.1 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 776eaf34564cbf3f034a0ba1fd1d5c32ff9ccf1c
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-GB
Calc: CL threaded

File saved with "Save as Html" has page numbers (Export as HTML hasn't)
