Description: Sometimes, the insertion point becomes invisible, although otherwise it still functions properly, selecting still works right, and clicking may make the insertion point visible. Steps to Reproduce: 0. I wish I knew. Often, when I think I identified STR, replication fails; but later the problem happens again. The problem seems less likely with new documents. 1. Settings app > Privacy > Screen Lock > Blank Screen Delay > 1 minute. No screen lock, suspension, or sleep is necessary. 2. Have nothing open in LO. You should see an empty space where a document can be opened. It's okay to have icons representing documents. 3. Open an editable saved document that does not have a first page header. (I don't know if the header matters.) 4. Edit the document (I added a letter at the very beginning, saved, deleted the new character, and saved again.) 5. Do nothing with the computer for more than a minute, about 1 min. 15 sec. 6. Move the cursor without clicking. Actual Results: The insertion point becomes invisible. If you remember the pre-invisibility location, you can still use the insertion point in your head, such as by typing text in an intended location. Clicking on the document cured it at least once (I'm not sure that that's consistently a cure), but it shsuldn't need a click for the insertion point to be visible. Expected Results: The insertion point to always remain visible except when something is selected (in which case the selection is visible as such). Reproducible: Sometimes User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: This happened both before and after a recent clean install of Fedora 34 including LO. The insertion point can spontaneously become visible again. I don't know why. Resetting the profile (using safe mode) cured it and replicating in normal mode did not replicate the problem. However, the problem recurred since a profile reset, but not immediately. At least one cold-reboot occurred between the reset and the problem being seen again. I had not changed LO options in between the reset and the problem reappearing. I don't think I have OpenGL. Platform: Fedora 34 Linux, kept evergreen. Have you seen this problem with later versions?
Nick, could you please retest with actual version LO 7.6? Is the bug still present? => NEEDINFO
The problem persists with 7.5, albeit intermittently, even in one power-up session without cold or warm reboots. I do not know the conditions under which it is not intermittent. I'm not set up to install and run, even in isolation, version 7.6. However, I keep Fedora Linux 38 evergreen and it has LibreOffice Writer thus: Version: 7.5.5.2 (X86_64) Build ID: 50(Build:2) CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 6.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded My OS is Fedora Linux 38 (Workstation Edition), 64-bit, kept evergreen.
